Tres Jolie Kit Club-Cards, Cards, Cards!-July 2021 Cards, Tags, & More Kit

Hey, all! I hope you had a craft-astic July and we were able to inspire you to go out and create!
For my third Cards, Tags, & More Kit project, I have a few cards, a few different ways!

FRAMED-20210619_095329

Check out my video to see my thoughts and process for all these cards!

Now for the close-ups and a few details for each card!

FRAMED-20210619_095551

FRAMED-20210619_095609

These two cards are some basic, “flat” cards. The “Happy Birthday” card is a 4-3/4”x4-3/4” square with just a piece of the striped cardstock, a doily die cut, and a piece of vellum with the greeting embossed. The “Let’s Celebrate!” is just stamped straight on the cardstock. I used a die from my stash with the Sizzix Emboss & Transfer set to add a little dimension to those birds being “pushed through” the gold cardstock.

FRAMED-20210619_095448

FRAMED-20210619_095730

The flowers from the kit get featured with these two cards! The “Hooray” cards is a little more fun with the flourish coming out from under the flower! The vertical card is more elegant, with some bits of lace dangling with the leaves.

FRAMED-20210619_095628

FRAMED-20210619_095650

Both of these cards of pieced together background, using strips of cardstock I had leftover from my previous projects! I cut some rosettes for the slimline card—giving it the “Party” feeling. The “imagine” card is another “flat” card, but those stars are just perfect to “make a wish” on.

FRAMED-20210619_095423

FRAMED-20210619_095528

These two cards sum up my feelings about cake! Lucky and Yay!! For the card on the left I used the negative cuts from the sheet of cardstock from my first project and added in some doliy cuts to create the background. I used my hexagon punches and any bit of “scrap” cardstock I could find to create the background for the card on the right. To cards with the same greetings, but totally different looks!

I hope you enjoyed this project, and all of the projects this month, and they gave you some ideas of what you can do with the July Kits from Tres Jolie!

Art Journal-Hero & Paint-June MTW Challenge

Hey, all! Welcome back to my corner!

Today I have an Art Journal spread I created for the June More Than Words Challenge “Hero & Paint.”

WM-20210622_201758

I wasn’t sure if I’d come up with something this month for the MTW Challenge, I wasn’t feeling very layout-ish, and I wasn’t able to really narrow down a personal hero. One day I just pulled out my DWM Journal and grabbed a few brighter paints. Then I sat there staring! I think things finally came together when I got a “picture” in my mind of some stenciling. I didn’t have anything like what I was picturing, so I cut one out of some heavy cardstock.

Video:

June 2021 Main

I suppose, if you wanted to really get down to the nitty-gritty, I think I had problems thinking of a hero because I tend to lean to a “I’ll do it myself” attitude. I’m not saying I won’t let people do things for me, I just find doing it myself faster! LOL!

Some close-ups of the spread:

WM-20210622_201853

The silver on the background is from sheets of Prima Run-On Foils. I used my homemade stencil with some Finnabair “Gold Dust” Jewel Effect Paste, and then freehanded some paint highlights!

WM-20210622_201840 WM-20210622_201903 WM-20210622_201944

I used some DWM “Eggplant” & “Lemon” that I had from the October 2020 Tres Jolie Kit Club Mixed Media Kit, and some Vicki Boutin “Juicy Pear.”

WM-20210622_201949

All of the papers have been in my “scraps” pile for ages, and none of them had the border with the manufacturer on them anymore, so I couldn’t even begin to guess where they came from now!

WM-20210622_201910 WM-20210622_201935

I just tore a bit of corrugated cardboard from a box, coated it in some DWM Gesso I’ve had since the April 2019 Tres Jolie Mixed Media Kit (I had an open container way back then already, and with black gesso, I’ve learned a little bit goes a long way!); I then layered my stamped papers, punched circles, and label on top of the cardboard.

WM-20210622_202023

I hope you enjoyed this project. I love getting my Art Journal out because I gives me a chance to do a project without always having to plan ahead or prepare too much! With just a little guideline, “Hero & Paint” I was able to do a project and relax!

Tres Jolie Kit Club-September Mixed Media Kit-ATCs

Hello, all! Welcome back to my corner!

This week I am bringing you my project using the Prima “Alphabet Cards” ATC pack that came in this month’s Mixed Media Kit (the cards are not shown in the kit photo) from the Tres Jolie Kit Club.

DSC_0008-FRAMED

To start, I haphazardly brushed on some clear gesso to all of the cards, sprayed them with the Lindy’s Gang Moon Shadow Mist from the kit, then started building up my layers. Check out the video to see how it all came about!

DSC_0011-FRAMED

I dug into my collections of mediums (many of which came from previous Tres Jolie kits), and just started decorating my cards! I added some stenciling using the gel medium and glitter from this month’s kit, and topped it with some stamping. I then added some quick flower sketches to some of the ATCs, some (more) stenciling, and some painting. Then I just grabbed up some black gesso and traced over the printed letters on the cards to bring those alphabet back to the front!

I really didn’t have any rhyme or reason when I put these cards together, I just went with what I was feeling like using at the time!

I hope you enjoyed this project and it gave you some ideas of what you can do with the ATC pack that came in this month’s Mixed Media Kit!

“Make A Wish” (Birthday Layout) – Creative Embellishments July 2020 Challenge

Hey, all! Welcome back to my corner!

Today I’m bringing you a layout I did for the July 2020 Creative Embellishments Challenge showcasing my son’s birthday – in 2011! I’m not that far behind in documenting (well, maybe I am), but this is a redo. My style and skill has changed quite a bit over the years, and sometimes I decide to “update” one of my layouts.

Check out my process video, under the Creative Embellishments mood board, to see how everything came together!

After I put down a layer of clear gesso, I added some Shimmerz where the three clusters would be getting set. And, I’m happy to say, I used up items from my stash!

DSC_0091-WM DSC_0083-WM DSC_0096-WM

I really love using black as an accent color on brightly colored layouts, and I think it worked perfectly with the colors, and the holographic foil by Prima that I used on the frames. (*Note: the pack from Creative Embellishments comes with three I believe, I had already used one so I had to use a different frame from my stash for the frame in the third cluster.)

I hope you enjoyed the video that shows my process as I put this layout together, and thank you for joining me here in my little corner!

Tres Jolie Kit Club-July 2020 Moodboard-Scrapbooking Kit

Hey, all! Welcome back to my blog!

Today I’m bringing you a rather thick junk journal I created for the Tres Jolie Kit Club using the papers, frames, tag, and resin pieces that came in this month’s scrapbooking kit.

DSC_0004-FRAMED

I was inspired by Wendy’s Journal Adventure’s “The Caring Gardner Botanical Journal.” I don’t even know what I was looking for when I came across the video, but I loved how the first and last signatures were dedicated to pockets and flip-outs with the middle signatures dedicated to the pages to write on; I had always seen journals with the pocket and flip-out pages intermingled with the writing pages. I also loved the corrugated cardboard she used on the inside covers, which reminded me I had some KaiserCraft Corrugated Sheets from the October 2019 Tres Jolie Scrapbooking Kit. Check out a few photos, found below the flip-through video, to see how some of the pages are laid out.

A pocket page & some of the lighter paper from the kit that can be used for journaling.

I hope you enjoyed this junk journal and that it gave you some ideas of what can be done with this month’s kit!

More Than Words May 2020 Challenge-Stripes & Funny

Hey, all! I’m on a roll this month! If my brain is deciding to give me ideas, who am I to argue?!?!

Today I have a layout I created for the More Than Words May 2020 Challenge, “Stripes & Funny.” The photos on the layout are not the best quality, they were taken with a phone camera…and I don’t mean a phone camera from today, I mean one from 10 years ago! That’s right, those little faces on this layout are adults now! And what’s funnier than seeing if you can stick half an orange in your mouth?

DSC_0032-WM

I really dug into the deepest, darkest corners of my stash and pulled out my Pink Paislee, “Hello Sunshine,” papers, chipboard stickers, and ephemera for this layout. As soon as I saw the striped paper in the pack, I knew I wanted to use it with those striped paper straws I received from Doreena a couple years back!

Check out this quick process video to see the construction!

In the close-ups, you can really see the splattering, and how well Distress Oxides work on a dark background! And aren’t those buttons from A Flair For Buttons the perfect touch sitting on a nest of thread?!?! (The thread technique I picked up from Missy Whidden a few years ago. I found it to be absolutely brilliant!)

Thank you for checking out this project, I hope you enjoyed it!
