Tres Jolie Kit Club–Quick & Easy Cards-January 2022 Cards, Tags, & More Kit

Hey, all! For my last January project for Tres Jolie Kit Club, I have some Quick & Easy Cards using this month’s Cards, Tags, & More Kit. A little cutting, layering, and gluing later and viola, a few cards all ready to go! Check out my video to see how easy cards can be!

With the coordinating sticker sheet and layered stickers in this month kit, putting a few cards together didn’t take much time at all.

Video:

I cut the base paper 4.75”x6.25”, attached it to my card bases and started the layering process.

FRAMED-Cardsl-Jan22CT&M-03 FRAMED-Cardsl-Jan22CT&M-07

I sorted through all the bit and pieces and played around with different layouts and embellishments until I had the cards together the way I wanted. On the Tres Jolie Chipboard butterflies, I added some “Oakleaf Olive” embossing powder and some “Metallic Black” wax.

Adding some of the layered stickers from the kit is a quick way to give your cards some dimension—and they have some phrases on them to help you get your meaning out!

Using a hot glue gun made assembly go even faster! Even though most of the embellishments were stickers, if I wanted to add a little extra support I put a bit of hot glue down. The stickers go great on the envelope as well — giving it it’s own special touch!

Thank you for joining me here in my little corner! I hope you enjoyed this project and it gave you some ideas of how you can use this month’s kit to make yourself some quick and easy cards to have on hand!

Tres Jolie Kit Club–Wall Hanging-January 2022 Cards, Tags, & More Kit

Hey, all! Welcome back to my little corner!

This week I have a sweet little wall hanging for you made with Tres Jolie Kit Club’s January 2022 Cards, Tags, & More Kit, the stencil from the January Mixed Media Kit, and some items from my stash.

FRAMED-WallHangingl-Jan22CT&M-01

I used two of the black chipboard pieces from this month’s kit as the base for this wall hanging, then added my textures and decorations. Check out how I did it in the video!

Video:

As you saw in the video, getting my chain idea to work out was the hardest part! Fortunately I keep the clear, sturdy packaging around when I get items; you just never know when that might come in handy!

FRAMED-WallHangingl-Jan22CT&M-06 FRAMED-WallHangingl-Jan22CT&M-09

I just used two sheets of the Simple Stories paper from this month’s kit on my base; one with a phrase, and one with a butterfly print. After I had these glued down, it was time to get my modeling paste on. The “Sterling Silver” modeling paste (TCW) that came in the (I think) May Mixed Media Kit was the perfect color to go with this month’s Simple Stories papers and the chain I had decided to use.

FRAMED-WallHangingl-Jan22CT&M-05

I layered my flowers and stickers — some from the sheet, some from the layered package – and tucked them in around my photo. I found that the center of my Tim Holtz “Weathered Clock” Bigz Die was the perfect size for my photo, and it gave me a “rough” edge that I thought just fit better with the muted, more vintage tones of the paper pack.

FRAMED-WallHangingl-Jan22CT&M-04 FRAMED-WallHanging-Jan22CT&M-SneakPeek

My stenciling was added randomly – where I felt it should go – but I was careful not to cover up the phrase or too many of the butterflies! I added some flower cluster on the left panel, as well as some of the butterfly stickers. On the right panel I added a large phrase sticker and a couple of smaller, layered stickers. I even tucked on one of the resin pieces to give emphasis to the “best ever” phrase.

FRAMED-WallHangingl-Jan22CT&M-02

I used my Crop-A-Dile to punch my holes and add my eyelets, and added some jump rings I repurposed from an old “worthless” chain I’ve had for years so I’d have something to attach my main chain on.

Thank you for joining me here in my corner, I hope you enjoyed this project and it gave you some ideas of what you can make using items from this month’s Cards, Tags, & More Kit!

Tres Jolie Kit Club–Gouache Winter!-January 2022 Moodboard

Hey, all! Today I’m bringing you a little winter painting I made using the January Mixed Media Kit from the Tres Jolie Kit Club! I was super excited when I saw this kit – there’s gouache in it! If you don’t know what gouache is, the simplest way I can think to describe it is an opaque, flat, matte, watercolor. It acts like watercolors (traditionally, there are acrylic gouaches on the market, but this set isn’t one of them!), but it isn’t translucent like watercolors, and it has a flat, matte finish.

FRAMED-Painting-Moodboard-Jan22MMKit-01

This final version on the watercolor panel from the kit was my second painting! I grabbed a sheet of watercolor paper from my stash and (tried) to work out what I wanted to do first! (Truth be told, I like my first set of trees better! I show it in the video.) Check out my video to see how things came along!

Video:

I was inspired by this month’s wonderful, winter moodboard! I love winter—not the cold so much, but the beauty of ice and snow; it’s just so — clean!

I have a few images here for you to check out the layers and shading.

The colors I used from the Art Alchemy Gouache set for my little painting are:

Titanium White, Black, Deep Green, Lemon Yellow, Ultramarine, Prussian Blue, & Burnt Umber

FRAMED-Painting-Moodboard-Jan22MMKit-08

FRAMED-Painting-Moodboard-Jan22MMKit-07

For some reason, the trees on this final painting really gave me fits! I just couldn’t get the front tree to come out “right”! I didn’t have near as much trouble on my practice painting with my trees, but eventually I did get the front tree to be – not a total disaster! LOL! A great tool for evergreen trees? A fan brush!

FRAMED-Painting-Moodboard-Jan22MMKit-03

I really love how my could came out here—even if I did have to move it! When I added my first cloud to this painting, it was much lower on the horizon, but fortunately gouache is relatively easy to rework!

FRAMED-Painting-Moodboard-Jan22MMKit-02

FRAMED-Painting-Moodboard-Jan22MMKit-06

FRAMED-Painting-Moodboard-Jan22MMKit-09

I’m almost as happy as my happy little critter here with how they came out! (I was going for a fox! What do you think?) I didn’t try to add extensive detailing, but just tried to give some shading to the shape to give the impression they were facing forward with their tail wrapped around the front.

The key to all of this was to be patient and work s-l-o-w-l-y! I took my time and made sure bottom layers were 100% dry before doing the next layer! Even though gouache is water-soluble, it is possibly to add layers if you allow ample dry time and don’t add excessive water on the following layer(s).

Thank you for joining me here in my little corner. I hope you enjoyed this project and it gave you an idea of what you can do with the gouache paint set—and how gouache acts–in this month’s kit!

Tres Jolie Kit Club–Coptic Bound Journal-January 2022 Cards, Tags, & More Kit

Hey, all! Welcome to 2022 and my corner!

For my first project of the year for Tres Jolie Kit Club, I have a Coptic Bound Journal for you. I used “resume” paper, some size 5 DMC Perle Cotton Cotton,  and tools & adhesive from my stash — along with the papers and chipboard from the kit — to create this journal.

FRAMED-CopticJournal-Jan22CT&M-01

Check out my video to see how I put mine together!

Photos, links, & measurements:

FRAMED-CopticJournal-Jan22CT&M-03 FRAMED-CopticJournal-Jan22CT&M-10

On the inside of the front and back covers I added some of the scraps from the lined paper I printed and some stickers from the Simple Stories sheet found in the kit. On the front of the first signature I added the “Learn To Fly” square from the Craft O’Clock “bonus” sheet and drew on some faux stitching.

FRAMED-CopticJournal-Jan22CT&M-12

The Simple Stories paper I added on the outside of the back cover.

Here are the measurements for where I poked my holes – where the lines intersect. The measurements are in inches, and the space between the horizontal lines.

PhotoRoom-20211231_120442

**The vertical line is 3/8” in from the left edge.**

For my journal, I made six signatures. The cover of each signature is a piece of the Simple Stories paper, scored 2-1/4”, then filled with some of my printed lined paper! I printed the lines on bother sides of the paper, but I didn’t use the same print for each side! I was lucky enough to find a monochrome laser printer for $35 in the clearance isle one day, so that is what I used. InkJet printers will work just as well—just remember the ink isn’t permanent! (Unless you have a fancy pigment ink printer!) After my journal was all together, I went through and randomly added some stickers from the Simple Stories Cardstock Sticker sheet.

Be careful when you are doing your binding! I was so worried about it being too loose, I made it too tight! But my journal still opens and lays flat like it should!
