Tres Jolie Kit Club-Interactive Christmas Cards-December 2021 Cards, Tags, & More Kit

Hey, all! Welcome back to my corner!

I have a couple of large interactive cards for you this week using the Tres Jolie Kit Club’s December Cards, Tags, & More Kit, items from my stash, and a cut file, Magic Iris Shutter Card, from PreciousDelights4U.

These interactive cards were fun to make! I go over the Magic Windows Slider card in my video, but I used this video to help me do it. I did not show the assembly of the Iris Card because the woman who sells the cut file has her own video you get a link to when you purchase the cut file.

First I’ll go over the few details about the Magic Iris card that I have.

FRAMED-20211117_165343

The original size of the cut file can fit all of the parts on one 8.5 x 11 sheet of paper. I enlarged mine to the point where the top ring – the one cut from the Graphic 45 paper – was 6-7/8”. I actually enlarged it “by sight” until the inner circle was large enough for the candy canes to fit in. I do have a tip for people who are cutting this using Silhouette Studio and a Cameo! Make sure of your cut lines before hitting “Send”! On the shutter pieces, I had to select the shutter piece and the two squares that make up the tabs and weld them so they would only cut on three sides as intended! (The owner of the cut file has a video for Cricut users!)

I used the candy cane, Tres Jolie chipboard piece from the kit as my iris center, and kept it simple, just coating it in some embossing powders and setting it on some glitter coated cardstock! I sewed along the reindeer paper with some gold thread, and added the gold trim to cover the little bit of seam on the solid cardstock I pieced together to make my card base. To give a little “oomph” to the tab, I glued down one of the Graphic 45 chipboard pieces. This card is now ready for personalization!

This next card is made using a die I’ve had for a while, and in my video I said I got it from Amazon, but there is no packaging…so maybe I didn’t! I’ve had it a while, but this is the first time I’ve used it!

I just thought it was so awesome being able to change the image on this card! And to really make is show, I made sure to have a lighter paper as my “revealed” image so it really popped out!

FRAMED-20211117_165255 FRAMED-20211117_165319

Just like with the Magic Iris card, I used a metallic gold thread to stitch the patterned paper to my card base. Then I had to add the bling because I forgot to take into account the movement under the surface! When I went to test the mechanism, it wouldn’t turn! I used a craft knife to slit enough of the stitches to allow clearance, then added the bling as a “cover.” I used a piece of the Graphic 45 chipboard in the center – trimmed down a little – added bling to the “lever” and finished off with adding two gems to the goggles on the chipboard Santa’s hat.

Tres Jolie Kit Club-September Cards, Tags, & More Kit-ATCs

Hey all! Welcome back to my corner!

Whew! Already September?! Living in the South I am truly looking forward to cooler days getting here!

To get us going this month I have a set of ATCs (Artist Trading Cards) I put together using [almost 100% only] of the Cards, Tags, & More Kit from Tres Jolie Kit Club!

FRAMED-20210819_113524

The only non-kit items (besides tools & adhesives) are the ink I stamped with and some basic white thread. These ATCs went together quick and easy! The lonest process I had was fussy cutting; something that can be done while watching T.V. or a movie. Which makes it easier for me, because otherwise I tend to get bored doing all that cutting! (I have a love/hate relationship with fussy cutting, I love the results, the process—not so much LOL!) Check out my video to see how these ATCs came together!

After I had my bases ready, assembly went quick and easy thanks to my hot glue gun! Hot glue can be so versatile and handy because you can use it to quickly build up and support your embellishments—and as soon as it’s cooled, you’re good to go! No dry time needed!

For some extra texture I added some “nests” of regular thread—the same one I used to stitch the edges—it was a little trick I picked up from Missy Whidden a few years ago (she does it to her layouts quiet often).

I used some Prima Fluid Chalk Ink from my stash to stamp the banners and words, then just fussy cut them out and used some hot glue to help hold the curve and attach them to the ATCs.

FRAMED-20210819_114208 FRAMED-20210819_114224

The only wet glue I used for these ATCs was some heavy gel medium that I randomly brushed on to hold my sequins and beads in place, and that didn’t take long to dry since it wasn’t thick. Plus, it dries clear, so now those sequins and beads look like they are just sitting there!

Tres Jolie Kit Club-August 2020 Sketch-“This Beautiful Life”

Hey, all! Welcome back to my little corner!

This week I am bringing you a layout I created for the Tres Jolie Kit Club’s August 2020 sketch challenge using the August 2020 Scrapbooking Kit! This kit includes the scrumptious “Diva” papers from A.B. Studio, some beautiful Prima flowers and ephemera, chipboard from Dusty Attic and Scrapaholics, and a pack of resin pieces from Scrapberry.

DSC_0005-FRAMED

I just adore the “Diva” Collection, and it took me a little while to figure out exactly what I was going to do with it, and to tell the truth, the large cut out bonus piece in the pack did a lot of the work for me! Check out the sketch this month, then look below it to see my process video!

To add a little texture to the background I did some water distressing along the edge of the blue-grey paper and added some light stenciling, using an Art Anthology stencil and some texture paste from my stash, where it would peek out from behind my layers.

Even though fussy cutting isn’t my most favorite part of crafting, I just had to add in some of the black & white flowers and foliage from the cut apart sheet in the “Diva” collection. For my chipboard keys and ornaments I pulled out a couple of Prima Fluid Chalks (that came in previous Tres Jolie kits) and just dabbed them on!

Those Prima flowers were the perfect complement to the “Diva” papers, and the pack of “Darcelle” ephemera gave me the piece I needed for the perfect title.

If you haven’t checked out my video yet, that photo is of my grandmother and mother, which I edited and added that sparkle filter to.

Thank you for joining us here at Tres Jolie! I hope my layout and take on this month’s sketch inspired you and gave you some ideas for your next project!
