Tres Jolie Kit Club–November Memory Dex–October 2022 Cards, Tags, & More Kit

Hey, y’all! For my final project of October for Tres Jolie Kit Club, I have some November Memory Dex Cards for you. I don’t have a card for every day of the month – although I think it is possible with all of the “(Inter)National Day of’s …”. I just picked the more commonly known days – and National Button Day, since we are all crafters here!

The video is a quick watch – most of the project is die cutting, layering, and gluing – so I really spend the majority of the video time with the assembly of the shaker card and I give an overview of what mediums I used.

Oct2022CTM-MemoryDex-04 Oct2022CTM-MemoryDex-01 Oct2022CTM-MemoryDex-05

First, a warning and apology! I am in the process of switching my recording and editing programs, and had to work out which settings were best for these new programs – so the audio for about half the video is … less than ideal. Fortunately, I think I have it worked out now, unfortunately, it is during the shaker assembly. Sorry! It really got down to the wire of working with what I had, or not being done in time!

Oct2022CTM-MemoryDex-14

My shaker card was the most involved card created! I decided what I really “needed” for this project was to create a large, maple leaf shaped Memory Dex card. Over on my Flickr, you can find the full-sized .jpegs of the shaker parts and my little calendar to use in your personal project(s).

mapleLeaf NovemberMemoryDex-calender

I doubled up the card part of the shaker – made using some cardstock from my stash – so it would have a little extra stability when on the Rolodex tracks since it is heavier than a “regular” card. To make my solid cardstock not so solid looking, I inked up the edges with my Frayed Burlap Distress Oxide, gave it a splatter of water, dabbed up the excess, and dried everything before I glued down the solid leaf, cut from some of the patterned paper from the kit and trimmed off the bit of extra stem from the bottom.

To create my spacer ring I cut two of the outline pieces and used some hot glue between them. And honestly, I think I might have found a favorite way to create the space needed for shakers! There is no dry time, no cutting, and scissors work to trim off any parts that seep out. All I had to do is keep moving so I wouldn’t get any piled up, and if a spot got skipped over, it was easy to go back and fill it in.

Oct2022CTM-MemoryDex-02 Oct2022CTM-MemoryDex-03

For the leaf veins and “November,” I first used a gold marker in my Cameo to sketch the outlines, then I switched over to the blade to cut the pieces out. I left everything on my mat so it would be easier to work on when I added some gold foil transfer to them.

After the foil was on, I grabbed up a piece of acetate and stitched the veins and acetate together. To keep the feed-dogs of my sewing machine from marring the acetate, I just ran it through on top of a piece of tissue paper – which tears off from the stitches super easily! Then I glued down the acetate window piece to the spacer ring using some JudiKins Diamond Glaze.

Since I was in a “let’s see what I can use” mindset, wanted to add a little extra to the shaker and wanted to make sure the edges of the leaf vein cut weren’t going to snag on anything, I brushed on some Peeled Paint Stickles around the edge, and then used it to fill in along the hot glue edge to really “clean” it all up. Then the only thing left to do was flip the window over, add my sequins, and glue the base on.

Oct2022CTM-MemoryDex-06

After the shaker card, the rest of the cards were really just a matter of gluing all the die-cut pieces together! Each card has two layers – except the envelopes – one layer of cardstock, and one layer of patterned paper. I added a bit of random stitching and tucked in and layered up die-cuts and pieces from the cut-apart sheets in this month’s kit.

As I noted in the video, this was the day I discovered my printer had decided to retire, so my calendar is only a black-and-white printout, instead of the original design that I shared near the beginning of this post. The “Native American History Month” Card is actually one of the envelope cards, and inside it, I added a couple of little fact sheets printed from the National Congress of American Indians and the U.S. government’s Native American Heritage Month website. And of course, I have a card to remind me that Daylight Savings Time ends on the sixth, and we “Fall Back” an hour.

Oct2022CTM-MemoryDex-09

The eighth is our mid-term elections here in the U.S., and since I believe voting is highly important and something that should be taken seriously, I had to make a card for that day. The eighth is also the first full moon of November, known as the Beaver Moon or Frost Moon. On the eleventh, we have Veteran’s Day (also known as Armistice Day or Remembrance Day), [originally] to commemorate the end of World War I. For my November 13th card, I have another envelope, but I didn’t to say anything on the outside other than “Fun Day” since it is the Ides of November and the Festival of (the Roman God) Jupiter. And of course, as I mentioned at the start of this post, I have my National Button Day card.

Oct2022CTM-MemoryDex-10

For my last two cards, I have one for (American) Thanksgiving – which signals the start of the Holiday shopping season, so I had to make a card for Small Business Saturday! Don’t forget to support small businesses!!

I used a set of Hampton Art Alpha stamps with my Frayed Burlap Distress Oxide or one of my StazOn inks to stamp the titles and dates and sometimes added some gold embossing powder to make areas stand out a bit more.

Tres Jolie Kit Club-June 2021 Moodboard-Scrapbooking & Mixed Media Kits Combo

Hey, all! Welcome back to my little corner!

Today I’m bringing you my moodboard inspired project using both the June Mixed Media Kit and Scrapbooking Kit from Tres Jolie Kit Club!

FRAMED-20210610_101240

I love steampunk! It is in my top three list of themes I could play with all day long! Check out my video to see how I put this together.

Video:

Now a few close-ups:

FRAMED-20210610_101311

On my metal pieces I used some clear gesso from my stash and added some color using the Starburst Squirts—Hockey Puck Black & Polite People Purple—from this month’s Mixed Media Kit. (Note: I forgot to mention the Polite People Purple in my video, Sorry!!)

On the wooden gear I adhered some of the metallic flakes and then aged them with more of the Starburst Squirts and clear gesso!

FRAMED-20210610_101330 FRAMED-20210610_101349

These black chipboard arrows are from this month’s Scrapbooking Kit, and I absolutely love them! I love them so much I ordered two more sets to keep on hand (Tres Jolie Chipboard).

FRAMED-20210610_101359

First I used some foam squares to raise the car up a bit, then to add more depth I used the Maple Syrup Bronze Starburst Squirt to create a shadow effect behind the car.

FRAMED-0210610_101251

I used a few of the transfers from the Mixed Media Kit, added some color with more of the Starburst Squirts, and layered them with the car. As a final touch, I grabbed up a few of the flowers and one of the butterflies from the Scrapbooking Kit and added them to my piece!

Tres Jolie Kit Club-November 2020 Scrapbooking Kit -Color Board

Hey all! Welcome back to my corner!

Today I’m bringing you a purse-size calendar I created using the color inspiration (image below) and the papers and chipboard found in this month’s scrapbooking kit from Tres Jolie Kit Club.

20201112_132834-FRAMED

Compared to other books/journals I’ve made, this one came together rather quickly! It doesn’t have a thick spine, so I couldn’t get carried away adding extra pages. Check out the video below to see how I did it.

Video:

Isn’t this a beautiful color board? I love the look of purple and gold together! Keep scrolling down, there are some photos of the finished calendar below!!Color challenge

20201112_132846-FRAMED

I wanted to add a little something extra to the cover, but I also wanted it to hold up to use, so I opted for some Beautiful Board from ReneaBouquets and some stars I made using my “Stars & Moons” Mould, some tabletop epoxy, alcohol ink and Magical Shakers for color, and some mica flakes. Between you and me, those stars came out fabulously!

20201112_133106-FRAMED 20201112_133042-FRAMED

I couldn’t believe how lucky I was that I just happened to have a book cover in just the right shade of yellow-gold with the perfect title for a calendar! I don’t know what the book originally was, but I loved being able to repurpose the cover.

The next six photos are close-ups of the inside cover, pocket pages, and the calendar cover; you can also see those custom paper clips I made.

This little book calendar is now ready for 2021 to get here! The calendar has some space to write on, and there are a few pockets for lists and receipts to be tucked in.

Tres Jolie Kit Club-August Cards, Tags, & More Kit

Hey, all! Welcome back to my little corner!

Today I’m bringing you an album I made using the August 2020 Cards, Tags, & More kit from the Tres Jolie Kit Club! This kit was aimed towards an album, providing the chipboard and album base pages needed to get you going with the paper & embellishments! And well the kit may have included a set of split rings and the pages were pre-marked for holes, I went a different route and used part of the chipboard to create a hard spine.

DSC_0038-FRAMED

Due to technical difficulties with sections of the process video, I decided to just create a walkthrough/flip-through of the final album. Check it out!

Video:

I used some White Artisan Cardstock from Country Craft Creations to build my cover and on my photo sleeves because it is a linen cardstock, making it nice and sturdy for creating hinges. To insert the pages, I used some Linen Hinging Tape from LineCo. It’s nice and thin, but because it is linen it will be able to take being used as a hinge! After I had my base put together I started adding in the patterened paper from the kit, then worked my way up to adding in the photo sleeves and card flip-outs. Finally, I added the embellishments I wanted on the inside pages before turning my attention to the cover.

For the cover I used the pearl strips from the kit, spacing them two inches to the center. Finally I created my flower cluster on the front cover and added on of the resin pieces where the seam binding was attached.

Now, how about some photos? I have the front and back covers first, followed by the pages in the order they are in the album.

Some of my flaps close with magnets (from my stash) and some have tie closures using the seam binding found in this months kit!

Here are the measurements for the photo inserts. For reference, “Solid Cardstock” with the circles is the light purple cardstock in my album that I used from my stash, “Patterened Paper” with the circles is the paper from the kit, and the solid rectangles is the white linen cardstock from my stash that have an extra one-half inch for the flips.

Tres Jolie Kit Club-May 2020 Sketch

Hey, all! Welcome back to my blog! Today I’m bringing you a quick little layout I created for this month’s sketch challenge for the Tres Jolie Kit Club!

DSC_0001-FRAMED

I had a very craft-filled May, and by the time I got to this project I had one whole sheet of the beautiful Craft o’Clock paper left! There was a time when the thought of using such a “busy” pattern as a background would have terrified me, but I have learned sometimes less is more, so I kept everything else simple! (Sketch below the video)

Check out my video for the process!

sketch

May 2020 Sketch

DSC_0002-FRAMED

Behind the smaller cluster in the upper-left corner and behind the photo layers I added a touch of stenciling using the “Golden Glaze” paint (mixed with some 13@rts MAGIC! Powder) and a homemade texture paste that contains some of the “Caribbean Teal” paint, both [paints] from this month’s mixed media kit. Also, as I’m sure you’ve noticed, the teal flowers on this layout were from the Prima “vine” that came in the kit! Don’t be afraid to cut things apart if needed to make them work better for your purpose!

DSC_0007-FRAMED

I didn’t want to just plant the photo directly on the background, so I used some torn pieces of papers from the kit, some tissue paper, and the square, white frame from the chipboard (cut apart!) behind the photo! Then I added one of the chipboard tabs!

DSC_0006-FRAMED

The beautiful black and gold butterflies were the final touch needed for this layout! They provide just the right amount of accent!

Tres Jolie Kit Club–May 2020 Moodboard–Art Journal

Hey, all! Welcome back to my blog! Today I have an Art Journal spread I created based on this month’s mood board challenge for the Tres Jolie Kit Club!

**Note: The photos are pinker than in real life, the video shows the colors much better. What I’ve learned is to be more awake when editing…

I have a little something from every May kit on this 2-page spread! Mediums from the Mixed Media kit, the clock & papers from the Scrapbooking kit, and papers from the Cards, Tags, & More kit!

Here is the mood board, and below it, you will find a video!

Check out my video to see how I did this spread & to get a better representation of the colors!

Here is a close-up of the left page. Some of the papers were torn, some were cut with a circle die, and I fussy cut the phrase!

Here is the right page. The chipboard clock came from the May 2020 Scrapbooking kit and I painted it with the “Caribbean Teal” paint from the May 2020 Mixed Media kit! The gold stenciling is the “Golden Glaze” paint, also from the May 2020 Mixed Media kit, mixed with some 13@rts MAGIC! Powder.

The more teal colored papers came from the scrapbooking kit, while the soft rose-colored papers are from the Cards, Tags, and More kit! (Below are photos of all three kits!)
