Tres Jolie Kit Club–Mother’s Day Cards–May 2022 Cards, Tags, & More Kit

Hey, y’all!

Wow! May already?!?! And in just a few days it will be Mother’s Day here in the States, so for my first Tres Jolie Kit Club project of May, I have some Mother’s Day Cards for you – just in case you just realized you need some by Sunday! The majority of these cards are kit + cardstock, but I added in a couple more for extra ideas using some mediums from my stash and this month’s Mixed Media Kit.

May2022-MothersDayCards-01

Most of the cards I made are quick and easy, and you don’t necessarily need digital cut files to create your cards. You can use punches or dies to create your shapes, stamps, or stickers for your sentiments, or just create your own, one-of-a-kind works of art for your cards and envelopes. Check out my video to see how I put my cards together!

Video:

May2022-MothersDayCards-21 May2022-MothersDayCards-22

These two cards are 6in x 6in squares with fold-up petals cut into the solid card stock and some flowers cut out of the patterned paper added as layers (as seen on the “Mum” card) with some of the Prima Say It In Crystals as the flower centers, or, as seen on the “Mom” card, some of the Prima flowers added for even more dimension.

May2022-MothersDayCards-07 May2022-MothersDayCards-25

These two cards are 5in x 8in gatefolds. Like the flower card front above, the hearts on here are cut so they can be folded up along the outer edges. I added some small magnets in my “latch” layers, but they are totally optional and not necessary for the card! I have some of the patterned papers behind my fold-up hearts, and I layered the gold glitter hearts with the cut file hearts for the closure. If you want to add a little something extra, you can grab a pen, pencil, paint, marker, etc., and add some outlines to your card front.

May2022-MothersDayCards-13 May2022-MothersDayCards-15

These two cards are made using some cardstock from my stash and some of the patterned paper found in this month’s kit. I added depth to my card front by layering my patterned papers with the hearts cut out – one solid sheet as the base, topped with three layers with cut-out hearts. I even have a card sample to remember there are dad’s out there also being mom. In addition to the Prima Crystal’s, I added some splatter to the “Dad” card using the blue mica found in this month’s Mixed Media Kit mixed with some of the Liquid Color Fluid Medium from March.

May2022-MothersDayCards-16 May2022-MothersDayCards-18

These are my last two “plain” cards. They are 4in x 10in and have a layered lattice-like design. However, on these cards, I layered my solid cardstock over squares of the patterned paper. After popping on my sentiment, I added a couple of flowers, and these cards were assembled in no time!

May2022-MothersDayCards-12 May2022-MothersDayCards-10 May2022-MothersDayCards-24

Since I was already in card-making mode, I decided to add a couple of cards that are a bit more involved. I used a mask/stencil from my stash with some black gesso over stripes of this month’s patterned paper, then added some mica from this month’s Mixed Media Kit to create the first card. My accompanying envelope has a window cut out of it using a traced edge of the stencil/mask for the design. After I had my window cut out, I adhered my mica with some clear embossing ink and semi-sealed them in with some Workable Fixitif. I embossed on some flower print vellum, glued it into the window, and colored in the roses with a gel pen.

For the last card, I used a stamp and embossed a fading dot pattern on the card front before laying the blue mica on. I stitched the “banner” along the top with some variegated blue thread and added my heart cluster.

Tres Jolie Kit Club-July 2021 Moodboard: “Be Happy” Mixed Media Canvas

Hey, all! Welcome back to my corner!

Today I’m bringing you my moodboard inspired project; a mixed media canvas using items from both the July Mixed Media Kit and the July Scrapbooking Kit from Tres Jolie Kit Club! Pink flowers, gold veining, and butterflies were my inspiration from the moodboard, so I gathered my supplies and just went with it!

FRAMED-20210708_113200

I love moulds, so I was super excited when I saw that the Mixed Media Kit came with a fabulous Stamperia frames mould! Be sure to check out my video to see how I used the mould and how my canvas came together! (Note: Although I found it unnecessary with the Amazing Cast Resin, you can use various household products to help release the frames from the mold, such as baby powder, corn starch, cooking spray, and mica powder. Personally, I think the cooking spray is best for resins, and powders [would be] best for clays – because the resins absorb powders.)

I used the Dina Wakley paints from the Mixed Media kit on my background, baseboard doll, chipboard butterfly, and frame—along with lots of water in some areas to make the paints more translucent! I added just a touch of Vintage Gold wax to the frame details and wing edges.

FRAMED-20210708_113250

FRAMED-20210708_113436

I brushed some gel medium along the edges of the flowers to hold the gold microbeads in place, adding just a bit of detail and texture to the flowers! Then I dug into my stash and grabbed all three of my art stone bottles (mega, regular, & mini) and started adding them on. I like to sprinkle my art stones in place before adding the Diamond Glaze—that way I can get my placement down before making it permanent.

FRAMED-20210708_113423

FRAMED-20210708_113407

As my final touch, I used a metallic gold pen from my stash to add some gold “veining” along the edges of my torn paper and to circle the epoxy dots from the kit.

I hope you enjoyed this project and it gave you some ideas of what can be done with items from this month’s Mixed Media and/or Scrapbooking Kits!

Tres Jolie Kit Club-December Scrapbooking Kit-Frozen In Time

Hey, all! Welcome back to my corner!

This week I’m bringing you a wintery touch for the home; my “Frozen In Time” board using this month’s scrapbooking kit and mood board from Tres Jolie Kit Club. I ended up dubbing it “Frozen In Time” because I think it looks as though the butterflies and roses were caught in a freeze and are waiting for the spring thaw.

20201204_170149-FRAMED

I used a 12” plywood circle from Creative Embellishments as my base, coated the edge with the Embellishment Mousse from the kit, added my paper, stenciling, and decorations…all in a few hours! Check out how I did it in my video below:

Video:

Isn’t the December Mood Board just beautiful? I love the look of winter. I’m not overly fond of being cold, but I have always thought it to be one of the most beautiful times of the year when you get bright sunlight on a wonderful, winter, snowy landscape.

Now for a few close-ups:

For my background snowflakes, I used some regular texture paste from my stash with the Snowflake stencil from this month’s kit then topped the, still wet, texture paste with some Distress Glitter (also from my stash) to add some shine to the background. On the flourishes, I used some gilding flakes from my stash to give them the metallic shine I was looking for, but to also make them “rough”,” compared to an embossed finish anyhow.

20201204_170814-FRAMED

I thought these butterflies from my stash were the perfect addition for a couple of reasons. They are the perfect shade of blue, and well butterflies are generally associated with warm weather, these are already aptly named “Frozen” by ReneaBouquets!

20201204_170201-FRAMED 20201204_170803-FRAMED

To keep with my “Frozen In Time” theme, I added some of the same Distress Glitter I used on the background to the blue, Graphic 45, roses. I didn’t need to add any to the peach-y roses, because they already have a bit of glitter on them.

Tres Jolie Kit Club-November 2020 Mixed Media Kit-Altered Embroidery Hoop

Hey, all! Welcome back to my corner!

For my final November project, I’m bringing you an altered hoop using items from my stash with items found in this month’s Mixed Media Kit from Tres Jolie Kit Club.

DSC_0034-FRAMED

I used an old embroidery hoop from my stash and upcycled some aluminum screen for this Autumn Butterfly piece! Check out the video below to see how I did it! (My husbands hands even make their Internet debut!)

Video:

Now, how about a few close-ups?

DSC_0043-FRAMED DSC_0036-FRAMED

I wasn’t overly worried about “clogging” some of the holes in the screen with the gesso, I think it adds a little something to the piece and makes it seem more connected to the hoop. You don’t have to coat your screen with gesso and wax, I like it better this way though because it cut out the shine from the aluminum. You can also see that I added some “Vintage Gold” wax to the hoop to add just a little shine to offset the matte.

DSC_0035-FRAMED DSC_0038-FRAMED

I finished off two partial packs of flowers on this project and added some die cut leaves coated in “Vintage Gold” wax and sprinkled with some glass glitter for my cluster on the bottom of the hoop, bringing the gold of the butterflies to the outside as well.

Isn’t it beautiful with the light coming from behind? It makes me think of the setting sun at the end of an autumn day.

July 2020 ReneaBouquets Paintbrush Swap

Hey, all! Welcome back to my corner!

Today I’m bringing you an altered paintbrush I made for the July 2020 ReneaBouquets Facebook Swap! My swap partner, Monica, has received it, so it’s safe to post now.

DSC_0001-WM

Below you’ll find a super quick process video of how it all came together. Most of my time was spent waiting for the glue to dry and working that texture paste on until it was right!

Video:

Here are a few close-ups:

DSC_0005-WM DSC_0004-WM

Those large stones are some decorative stones I picked up from Dollar Tree quite a few months ago, and I decided now was a good time to put them to use! The white texture pebbles are Brea Reese, and the gold ones are from ReneaBouquets.

DSC_0003-WM DSC_0002-WM

Those beautiful butterflies, fantastic flowers, and sweet fairy are all from ReneaBouquets. Renea’s watercolor butterflies are some of my favorites from her, the fairy Bell is my personal favorite of all her beautiful fairies, and I could never choose a favorite flower set!

DSC_0007-WM DSC_0006-WM

Thank you for joining me here in my little corner, I hope you enjoyed this project and had a chance to check out the quick video that goes along with it!

Products:

ReneaBouquets Gold Glass Microbeads, Printed Beautiful Board Small Vintage Fairy Bell Laser Cut Chipboard, the flowers were Limited Edition, I believe, and I don’t know the name, & Magical Miniatures Watercolor Spun Sugar Double Side Printed Butterflies, Prima/Finnabair Heavy White Gesso and Rust Effect Pastes – Purple, Turquoise, & Powder Blue, JudiKins Diamond Glaze, Brea Reese Texture Pebbles, Liquitex Matte Super Heavy Gel, Dollar Tree Glass Decorative Stones, 4in paintbrush

Altered Embroidery Hoop

An altered embroidery hoop I created for Linda B. for the August ReneaBoquets Swap! Since Linda and I agreed on an “anything goes” theme, I used the Creative Embellishments August mood board challenge as inspiration. Specifically the Silver & Purple ombré hair. I had planned on trying a green & purple idea, as you’ll see at the beginning of the video, but that didn’t work out very well, so I assumed it was because the ombré hair was haunting my thoughts!
