Since I did Mother’s Day Cards at the beginning of the month, I decided to do some Father’s Day Coupon’s and gift envelopes as my final May project using the May 2022 Cards, Tags, & More Kit from Tres Jolie Kit Club. I created a few different designs to use as examples and have some example phrases to use with your coupon book. There are links to free PDFs for the different coupons throughout the blog, and over at CornerScrapsStudio you can get the PDFs, STUDIO3, and PNG files from my Etsy shop. I never “fully” completed a coupon book – the closest is my “Unlimited” tags – because I don’t have a personal use for Father’s Day coupons, and all our kids are old enough to worry about it themselves! (by old enough, I mean they no longer have any age restrictions on any purchases )

First up are my “Vintage Gold” coupons. I designed these coupons to look as though they are on old paper with gold font and trim. These examples are printed on some HP Premium Choice LaserJet Paper; a type of high-resolution paper designed for business documents that need clear, crisp images. You can get the “Vintage Gold” PDF on DropBox (for personal use only, please!) if you would like to print them out. (**NOTE: All PDF files offered throughout this post are not offered, created, or owned by Tres Jolie Kit Club. I am the creator and owner of the files and offer the PDFs for your personal use.)
The envelope for these coupons is a hand-folded sheet of the 6×6 patterned paper. I just eyeballed the center and eyeballed where I wanted the folds. Then for a little decoration on the front, I added a couple of the leftover hearts from my Mother’s Day Cards and one of the Prima flowers.
This next coupon design I have dubbed “Modern,” not for any particular reason, it is just what came to me when I needed some names to distinguish between the different designs! I printed my “Modern” coupons on some blue cardstock using my regular color InkJet printer. I don’t know if it’s just my particular brand of printer or the ink, but I didn’t have a bleeding problem on my prints. However, a few years ago I had a different printer that did like to bleed. A lot. So I came up with something to help keep that from happening! I discovered that if I spray the side I will be printing on with some Krylon Workable Fixatif and let it dry before printing, my bleeding, for the most part, was gone! I was actually able to print on shipping label sticker paper using this method and all of my images and fonts stayed clear! (Just remember to spray in a well-ventilated area!). I have a couple of different envelope examples for these coupons. One I made to have a tie closure, so I never sealed any of the flaps. I added an eyelet in the bottom flap and attached one of the flair from the kit to the top flap, then ran a piece of twine through the eyelet to tie the envelope closed. The second envelope I made I left open. I folded the top flap back and glued it in place so the coupons would be able to stick out the top.
I made a couple of mini envelopes to hold some Father’s Day Tokens. The tokens have all the same tasks but in an itty bitty size! I thought there were a couple of ways to use the tokens – you could print them out on sticker paper and make a full coordinating sheet to go with so the stickers could be placed as they get used, or you could print them out on regular paper, cut them into squares, staple the stack together if you want, and put them in the envelope (or staple them to the envelope). Here is the final style of the full set of coupons I created. For this example, I printed them on some glossy photo paper and decided to make a little booklet. My photo paper doesn’t slide very well, so instead of trying to get them in and out of an envelope, I thought a booklet would work better. A couple ideas of for securing your booklet are to use brads if they are long enough, or some twine/ribbon ran through a couple of holes. In addition to the “single-use” coupons, I thought making “Unlimited” coupons would be a nice addition. I have some that are sized to fit the tags from this month’s kit – Unlimited Bear Hugs, Game of Catch, and Spending The Day Together – and I turned them into sketches in Silhouette Studio, but you can also print the “Unlimited Tags” PDF on DropBox if you would like (For Personal Use Only). I have a little envelope I made for them with the top flap folded back and glued open, and a hole with an eyelet so the tags can be tied to the envelope, to keep everything together.
My final example is another “Unlimited” coupon in the form of an ATC. Making an ATC allows some personalized artwork to also be part of the gift! For my ATC I cut a piece of the patterned paper to size, added some of the lattice-ish bits I had left from my Mother’s Day Cards, used some of the Finnabair micas from this month’s Mixed Media Kit, popped on some Say-It-In-Crystals and a flower, then printed out my phrase and glued it on.
For the envelope, I made an ATC-sized pocket. It is an expandable pocket I saw a lady make using the We R Memory Keepers Envelope Punch Board a few (5+) years ago on YouTube. I made myself a little note to tape to my punch board with the measurements, so now I don’t know who I originally saw!

This week’s project is a paper bag journal using this month’s Cards, Tags, & More Kit from Tres Jolie Kit Club, some kraft stock and transparencies from my stash, and of course, paper bags. I just searched through my stash until I came across some items that I’ve had for ages – and decided I needed to quit hoarding them! Plus, the kraft stock matches the paper bags!

Pretty quick and simple, right? You don’t need “special” tape for this journal – clear packing tape works just fine and goes much better with the transparencies!
For the cover, I grabbed up one of the Tres Jolie Chipboard butterflies, coated it with some white gesso, and added a couple of the Finnabair Mica’s from this month’s Mixed Media Kit using the Liquid Color Fluid Medium from March’s Mixed Media Kit to make those mica’s permanent. I used my JudiKins Diamond Glaze to get a nice seal with the cover. I didn’t mind the Diamond Glaze leaking out some, because I was already planning to add it to the top of the butterfly to give it a bit of a curved surface and now my butterfly almost looks like it has welded seams! After the cover was dry, I popped on a few of the Say-It-In-Crystal’s and called it done.
I’m not going to show every page in the journal, I’m just going to focus on the ones that have pockets – some are “plain,” but I’ll explain that reasoning closer to the end. I didn’t close up any of the bag openings, I decided to turn them all into side pockets – including the cover. I covered the bags with the patterned paper and used a hexagon punch to make some thumb holes.
I turned one of the kraft sheets into a pocket with a flap and added some of the patterned paper inside for a spot of color.
For all of my bends and hinges, I used regular packing tape because I wanted to add some reinforcement, but I didn’t want it to really stand out.
My journal is comprised of three paper bags, three kraft sheets, and three transparencies – layered like this:

I wanted to reinforce my holes, but I didn’t have long eyelets, so I just decided to make sections, then I used some macramé cord to tie it all together.
I really like using the printed transparencies because they make clear pockets, but are not totally see-through because of the print – plus I would sometimes add some strips of patterned paper to one side to create some visual interest. As you can see in the above image, some of the pages made from a transparency have side openings.
A couple more side open pockets, and one of the paper bag bottoms – which I talk about a few paragraphs down.
Some pocket pages were made from one of the transparencies and from one of the kraft sheets (I just used a scrap of patterned paper here to show the pockets).
The center of my journal is one of the transparencies turned into side pockets. When I put my eyelets in, I thought about how they would be facing so the finished side would be showing in the center.
For the pages made from the bottoms of the paper bags, I covered the bag with bits of leftover patterned paper and made two shallow pockets. Where the bottom folded up flat I added some glue along the edges to make one pocket, then added a strip of patterned paper about halfway up to create a second pocket.
As you can see, this journal is filled with pockets that you can tuck all your photos and notes into! And the reason for the “plain” pages? So you can grab up some colored pencils, markers, crayons, pens, etc., and add your own touch – maybe based on whatever mood you’re feeling at that given moment.

Whew! I didn’t think I’d get this project done in time – it wasn’t the project that was difficult, it was my oldest requiring my computer skills because his laptop stopped computer-ing and that took up a lot of my time. Anyhow, I made it, I’m here, and I have used this month’s Mixed Media Kit and Scrapbooking Kit from Tres Jolie Kit Club to create my May mood board inspired project. Tim Holtz + Finnabair + Stamperia + vintage + clocks + flowers – who could ask for more?!?!
Taking photos of a glass surface isn’t the easiest task, but don’t worry, I have photos of the inside before I put it in the clock! this project was actually a rather quick project, and I probably could have finished it in one day if I hadn’t had to stop for a few days! Check out my video to see what I did to create this distressed assemblage clock!

Easy, right? And using the clear wax gives a nice, satin sheen to the body while adding a protective layer! As you can see in the video, the majority of this project was done using the kits from this month. The wax and a couple of other items were from my stash and I grabbed a couple items from March’s Mixed Media Kit – but the bulk of it came from May kit items!

After I decided what bit of the Stamperia paper I wanted as my background, I glued it to the back with some 3D Matte Gel. The gel works great on metal, it adds some moisture protection, and it filled in the grooves behind the paper. After I was sure the gel was dry, I sprayed the surface with some Workable Fixatif, let that dry (about 5 minutes is all it takes!), and mixed some mica powder with the Liquid Color Fluid Medium found in March’s Mixed Media Kit to create a paint for the flower printed on the paper. (Clear gesso would work to protect the paper for painting too but make sure it is dry! And don’t forget, using a heat gun will not only make your metal hot, but it can cause bubbles in your gel, gesso, and paint!)
With my background done (and the outside finished), I started building up my focal point. From the scrapbooking kit, I used some fussy cut flowers from the paper pack and some of the chipboard flowers. I distressed the edges, and to give them depth, I used my hot glue gun to start building everything up. I grabbed the small Finnabair clock face, and gave it a wax, color medium, and mica coating; used mica and color medium on my flower edges, as some shadow effect, and a little on the pink flowers at the center. For the final adhesion, I used my 3D gel to hold my cluster in place.
I knew from the beginning I wanted to do something to the outside, so after some brainstorming I decided to grab my DecoArt Black Gesso – since it isn’t a heavy gesso – add a thin layer, then mix it up with some Liquitex Matte Gel, micas, fluid medium – just about anything I could grab up – and make up a base coat. After that base was dry-ish (Liquitex Matte Medium, like ModPodge, dries “sticky,” which I wanted), I brushed on the dark purple mica and gave it a spray of Workable Fixatif. It just wasn’t quite right yet though, so I started rubbing some of the pink-ish mica on. Then I decided I wanted to see how the blue mica would look – and it was great! Do you know how metal looks when it’s been heated? The blue made me think of that, but I couldn’t figure out what to use to hold the mica in place. I didn’t want to “activate” the mica like a water-based product would do, and I suddenly remembered I had a tube of clear Antiquing Wax! It was perfect! I was able to spread my mica around in a thin layer to get the look I wanted. After the blue layer had set up, I came back in with the ivory-ish mica and added it on. Note! Wax will reactivate wax!! But for this, it worked out, because the blue + ivory-ish = a green-ish hue!
When my wax was all set up, I came in with some sandpaper and added some distressing to the case.
I coated my outside flowers with some Krylon Matte Finish, then arranged them on the top and used more 3D Gel to hold them in place. When the photos were taken, none of my 3D gel was dry, so after that has time to get 100% dry I might go back and arrange the flowers a little more.
I did add some micas and color medium to the inside of the clock, but I don’t have a photo of that by itself (I forgot to take one, and I didn’t want to try and pull everything back apart)! However, you can see it in the video!

Wow! May already?!?! And in just a few days it will be Mother’s Day here in the States, so for my first Tres Jolie Kit Club project of May, I have some Mother’s Day Cards for you – just in case you just realized you need some by Sunday! The majority of these cards are kit + cardstock, but I added in a couple more for extra ideas using some mediums from my stash and this month’s Mixed Media Kit.
Most of the cards I made are quick and easy, and you don’t necessarily need digital cut files to create your cards. You can use punches or dies to create your shapes, stamps, or stickers for your sentiments, or just create your own, one-of-a-kind works of art for your cards and envelopes. Check out my video to see how I put my cards together!

These two cards are 6in x 6in squares with fold-up petals cut into the solid card stock and some flowers cut out of the patterned paper added as layers (as seen on the “Mum” card) with some of the Prima Say It In Crystals as the flower centers, or, as seen on the “Mom” card, some of the Prima flowers added for even more dimension.
These two cards are 5in x 8in gatefolds. Like the flower card front above, the hearts on here are cut so they can be folded up along the outer edges. I added some small magnets in my “latch” layers, but they are totally optional and not necessary for the card! I have some of the patterned papers behind my fold-up hearts, and I layered the gold glitter hearts with the cut file hearts for the closure. If you want to add a little something extra, you can grab a pen, pencil, paint, marker, etc., and add some outlines to your card front.
These two cards are made using some cardstock from my stash and some of the patterned paper found in this month’s kit. I added depth to my card front by layering my patterned papers with the hearts cut out – one solid sheet as the base, topped with three layers with cut-out hearts. I even have a card sample to remember there are dad’s out there also being mom. In addition to the Prima Crystal’s, I added some splatter to the “Dad” card using the blue mica found in this month’s Mixed Media Kit mixed with some of the Liquid Color Fluid Medium from March.
These are my last two “plain” cards. They are 4in x 10in and have a layered lattice-like design. However, on these cards, I layered my solid cardstock over squares of the patterned paper. After popping on my sentiment, I added a couple of flowers, and these cards were assembled in no time!
Since I was already in card-making mode, I decided to add a couple of cards that are a bit more involved. I used a mask/stencil from my stash with some black gesso over stripes of this month’s patterned paper, then added some mica from this month’s Mixed Media Kit to create the first card. My accompanying envelope has a window cut out of it using a traced edge of the stencil/mask for the design. After I had my window cut out, I adhered my mica with some clear embossing ink and semi-sealed them in with some Workable Fixitif. I embossed on some flower print vellum, glued it into the window, and colored in the roses with a gel pen.
For the last card, I used a stamp and embossed a fading dot pattern on the card front before laying the blue mica on. I stitched the “banner” along the top with some variegated blue thread and added my heart cluster.

Hey, y’all! Welcome back to the Corner Scraps Blog!
For my fourth and final April, Tres Jolie Kit Club project I made a Mini Junk Journal using the Cards and Mixed Media Kits. I love mixing vintage and bright; “old” and “new;” and the muted tones of the 49 & Market Cards, Envelopes, and Tags in this month’s Cards, Tags, & More Kit were the perfect complement to the bright tones of the Dina Wakley Glossy Sprays in the Mixed Media Kit. Check out the video to see how this all went together!
My closure is a few layers of fabric and tulle with four large buttons added on and a section of a headband (unused!) sewn onto one end. I also added some simple hand stitches for a little extra interest.

I used some lightweight chipboard I found in my stash, the floral print from the packaging of the 49 & Market Card Kit, and some teal burlap-ish trim from my stash to create the cover of the journal. I then decorated it with the Tres Jolie Chipboard from the kit and some of the Dina Wakely Glossy Sprays.
These aren’t all of the pages in the journal – only about half – as examples of techniques I used in creating this project!
I created a few clusters made from bits of fabric and tulle, a tag from the 49 & Market Tag Pack, and a couple of fabric flowers. I used black thread in my sewing machine to stitch the layers together, then added some hand-stitched X’s and hand-stitched the button on. I then glued the clusters along one edge to use as tuck spots. I added a blanket stitch (sewing machine) along the majority of the pages to reinforce the edges and make sure the gel print papers and cardstock backing stayed together! (Even if I did use a lot of glue – I don’t like things coming apart!)
I didn’t close up the three sides of the envelope to make it, well, an envelope; instead, I left it so it could be all the way unfolded. Throughout the journal, I added in some wax seals – some on pages, some on paperclips.
Not every surface has gel printing on it! I did leave a few sides bare, plus the back of all of the tags – but most of the surfaces have glossy sprays on them, so to write in this journal I think a fine tip marker would work best.
On the tags, I used white thread, and instead of punching holes and adding the tag pulls, I crossed two staples from my Tim Holtz Tiny Attacher.
Lots of different patterns in this junk journal, but the bright Glossy Sprays work with their muted counterparts on the 49 & Market cards and envelopes – and to really tie it all together, I stuck to just using black and white thread.
From the front cover to the back cover there is a variety of patterns and colors. The fabric flowers worked fabulously during the gel plate printing process and made their way onto the finished product.
The spine of the journal has some scrap fabric, tulle, fabric flowers, and buttons from my stash on it. Like the other flowers throughout the journal, these flowers also have some Glossy Spray added to them.

Hey, y’all! Welcome back to the Corner Scraps Blog!
This week I used the April Cards, Tags, & More Kit from Tres Jolie Kit Club to create a Mini Tag Booklet. I assure you, it looks more “complicated” than it was. I grabbed up some bits of fabric and eyelets from my stash, my Mini-Cinch & wire, and some punches to put this little booklet together. Check out the video to see how it came along!

I used some light sage thread for my page edges, pink, green, and orange eyelets, and some rust & green fabric bits for tabs and through the eyelets. The booklet is bound together with some orange We R Memory Keepers binding wire (.625-inch). I also added on the front cover phrase & “stitch” rub-ons.
There isn’t really a lot of “extras” in this project – stitching, fabric, eyelets, punches, & binding – the rest comes from this month’s kit! I cut up a couple of the envelopes, leaving some of the flaps to make pockets, or cut down some of the cards and stitched them together. To reinforce my edges and add some texture and decoration, I added some decorative stitches with my sewing machine.
Some pages were a combination of cards or envelopes to make the pocket pages. I used my We R Memory Keepers “Tab” punch to make some of the tabs, and I created a little pocket and used my circle punch to make a thumb hole. Some of the pages, like the third one in the above table, have double pockets!
I couldn’t forget to add in some of the flowers from this month! I used the rub-on leaves, popped on the flowers, and added some JudiKins Diamond Glaze to the centers to help protect them.

This week I am focusing on the Mixed Media Kit from Tres Jolie Kit Club, and while I do make a few sample projects, my focus is really going to be on what a gel plate can do! I find gel printing to be incredibly addictive – I can sit for hours without noticing time passing while I peel paper after paper off.
I do manage to add some mood board inspiration as well. I love citrus, not so much eating or drinking (I don’t care for sour), but for reasons I can’t explain, I love how citrus fruits LOOK – so I made a cut file that finds its way onto the gel plate! Check out my video to see all the ways I used the gel printing plate and the mixed media kit this month.

Papers:
Here are a couple images of some of my finished papers – of course by “finished” I mean from this session! I may or may not decide to add more in the future! You can see my Citrus Cut File (mostly) survived being used over and over again, and I now have some gel plate printed citrus slices!
Easter Eggs:
I just happened to come across a package of four wooden Easter Eggs in Wal-Mart, and decided they would be fun to use with the gel plate! If you saw my December 2021 Mixed Media Kit Project “Sleigh Bells,” then you already know I like to use more than paper on my gel plates! So I did it again, this time with some Easter Eggs.
The egg on the left is just multiple layers from gel printing, tipped off with some splatters from the Dina Wakley Gloss Sprays found in this month’s kit. The Egg on the right also has multiple layers, but I also used the Citrus Cut File on the gel plate and then came in and added some gel pen after it was all dry to really make the slices stand out!
For the “Spring” Egg, I used a flower-filled egg stencil I’ve had for years (no idea where it came from) and my Dina Wakley Spray to give some fun flowers to my gel printed background, then just grabbed a gel pen to add “Spring.” For the egg on the right, after my background layers were dry, I grabbed a white oil pastel to draw on some flowers! Oil pastels make a great resist, so I just added my Dina Wakley Gloss Sprays to color the stems and petals.
Envelopes:
Once your gel prints are dry, you can fold them up and create custom envelopes with your original papers! Well I used a sheet of regular printer paper for my examples, if I had started with envelopes in mind, I would have used some cardstock for my envelope prints, but I don’t always know where I’m headed when I do most projects, and this week was no exception!
I added a bit of the Citrus Cut File and I made some paper Easter Eggs to layer up. Fun to make, and I have some one-of-a-kind envelopes. I also want to add that after they are dry, the Glossy Sprays make great resists!
Backgrounds for my tag and ATC:
For the tag, I started tearing up some of my papers and layered them up, and added some Citrus slices using some Liquitex Matte Medium. After the matte medium was dry, I went back with my gel pens to add some accents to the rinds and scribbled on some flowers. I then came back with my glossy sprays and filled in the citrus slices. I can’t say this tag is “done”, but I wanted to do a little something that showed a few examples for layering and color. For my ATC, I grabbed up my Prima ATC blanks, some bits of the paper I had made, and glued them in place before taking it over to my sewing machine and adding some random “scribble” stitches. Then I came back and popped on a few chipboard pieces from my stash to complete the card.
