Tres Jolie Kit Club–3 Cards, 3 “Difficulties”-April 2022 Cards, Tags, & More Kit

Hey, y’all! Welcome back to the Corner Scraps Blog!

Spring is here! Birds are chirping, butterflies are fluttering, and spring storms keep us on our toes!

For my first project of April, I have some sample cards; three cards, three “difficulties.” Check out my video below to see what I did to put them together.

Apr2022-CTM-Cards-08

The first card I make is a quick and easy card, using just the kit and a few bit of bling from my stash. The second card is a little more involved – I make a shaker card, and for the third card, I bring in the mixed media kit so I can talk about gel printing a little early in the month!

Video:

Quick & Easy Card:

Apr2022-CTM-Cards-04

For this card, I just grabbed up a couple of tags from the tag pack, added some foam dots to give a little lift, added a rub-on rose & the rub-on sentiment, and popped on a few flowers from the flower pack and some bling from my (hoarded) stash! I don’t think this card took even 5 minutes to complete!

Shaker Card:

Apr2022-CTM-Cards-05

For my shaker card, I cut out some foam circles to use as spacers and some heavy-duty clear packaging plastic to use as my shaker window. I have a rub-on under the shaker pieces, and I glued the flowers to the underside of the plastic! They are in the shaker, but they don’t move. My shaker pieces are some sequins and some chunky glitter.

Gel Print Card:

For my third and final card, I broke into this month’s mixed media kit and added some of the fabulous Dina Wakley Gloss Sprays to my card using the gel plate! I will be talking more about gel printing in other projects this month, but I wanted to get you going with a few little tips of what you can do with the sprays, paint, and gel plate from the mixed media kit.

I used the gel plate to make patches of color on my background and envelope, I turned the gel plate into a stamp pad so I could add some stamped text to my card front, and I went in with the Lime spray using my fingers as my brush on the envelope and added some Lime splatter to my card front. I have three tags layered for this card and tucked in a few flowers. It wasn’t a “hard” card to make, I merely consider it the more “difficult” of the three cards because there is more to be done to finish it! (Plus I bring in another of April’s Kits!)

Thank you for joining me here in my corner! I hope you enjoyed this project and it gave you some ideas for cards you can make using this month’s Cards, Tags, & More Kit. Keep an eye on the blog for more projects using this month’s kits!

Tres Jolie Kit Club-Cards & Notecards-February 2022 Cards, Tags, & More Kit

Hey, all! Normally I try to have a mood board inspired project as my second monthly project for Tres Jolie Kit Club, but that project is currently stuck in a round-a-bout lost between This Is Taking Longer Than I Thought Lane and What Was I Thinking Avenue, and I can’t seem to find the correct turn-out for All Done Drive!

Fortunately, I have another project using this month’s Cards, Tags, and More Kit all ready to go, so this week I’m bringing you some ideas for cards and notecards.
Feb2022-CTM-CardsNotecards-2

Following the thought of “One Sheet Wonders,” I created a cut file in Silhouette Studio to speed up the creation of my squares, rectangles, and a few triangles. I also created some little quilt circles and mini-envelopes to add on. Check out my video, and following the photos, you can find links to my personal DropBox!

Video:

With all those pieces ready to grab and put in place, getting some cards churned out is a [mostly] seamless process! Add on some of the cut apart pieces, some Tres Jolie Chipboard, and stamp some sentiments, and you’re good to go! Since there isn’t too much detail needed for these cards, I will post their sizes, and only add any notes of interest if necessary! Happy Card Making!

I didn’t make just cards, these first three are notecards—even easier to make because there is no fold!

3.5”x7” cardstock piece folded to make a 3.5”x3.5” card with a piece of the fabulous Tres Jolie chipboard added for some extra interest! 5”x7” cardstock piece folded to make a 5”x3.5” card. I put the cut apart piece with “Spring” stamped on it on some foam squares to add a bit of dimension.
Feb2022-CTM-CardsNotecards-9
I don’t know why, but I think slimline cards are my favorite size of cards! 7”x8.5” cardstock piece folded to make a 3.5”x8.5” slimline.
Feb2022-CTM-CardsNotecards-7 Feb2022-CTM-CardsNotecards-6
These last two cards are the same finished size – 5.5”x4.25”. I used one piece of 8.5”x11” cardstock, cut it in half horizontally to create two, 8.5”x5.5” pieces, then folded those in half to create the two cards. In the video I talk about a card that gave me some trouble, this is the one! I had to really layer the center up to get something “good” out of the mess I was making!

Here are the two files I created that you are free to use for personal use only. Attribution is not required, but always appreciated! Links for download from my personal DropBox below each image.

Tres Jolie Kit Club–Quick & Easy Cards-January 2022 Cards, Tags, & More Kit

Hey, all! For my last January project for Tres Jolie Kit Club, I have some Quick & Easy Cards using this month’s Cards, Tags, & More Kit. A little cutting, layering, and gluing later and viola, a few cards all ready to go! Check out my video to see how easy cards can be!

FRAMED-Cardsl-Jan22CT&M-06

With the coordinating sticker sheet and layered stickers in this month kit, putting a few cards together didn’t take much time at all.

Video:

I cut the base paper 4.75”x6.25”, attached it to my card bases and started the layering process.

FRAMED-Cardsl-Jan22CT&M-03 FRAMED-Cardsl-Jan22CT&M-07

I sorted through all the bit and pieces and played around with different layouts and embellishments until I had the cards together the way I wanted. On the Tres Jolie Chipboard butterflies, I added some “Oakleaf Olive” embossing powder and some “Metallic Black” wax.

FRAMED-Cardsl-Jan22CT&M-04 FRAMED-Cardsl-Jan22CT&M-01

Adding some of the layered stickers from the kit is a quick way to give your cards some dimension—and they have some phrases on them to help you get your meaning out!

FRAMED-Cards-Jan22CT&M-SneakPeek FRAMED-Cardsl-Jan22CT&M-02

Using a hot glue gun made assembly go even faster! Even though most of the embellishments were stickers, if I wanted to add a little extra support I put a bit of hot glue down. The stickers go great on the envelope as well — giving it it’s own special touch!

Tres Jolie Kit Club-Interactive Christmas Cards-December 2021 Cards, Tags, & More Kit

Hey, all! Welcome back to my corner!

I have a couple of large interactive cards for you this week using the Tres Jolie Kit Club’s December Cards, Tags, & More Kit, items from my stash, and a cut file, Magic Iris Shutter Card, from PreciousDelights4U.

FRAMED-20211117_164511

These interactive cards were fun to make! I go over the Magic Windows Slider card in my video, but I used this video to help me do it. I did not show the assembly of the Iris Card because the woman who sells the cut file has her own video you get a link to when you purchase the cut file.

Video:

First I’ll go over the few details about the Magic Iris card that I have.

FRAMED-20211117_165343

The original size of the cut file can fit all of the parts on one 8.5 x 11 sheet of paper. I enlarged mine to the point where the top ring – the one cut from the Graphic 45 paper – was 6-7/8”. I actually enlarged it “by sight” until the inner circle was large enough for the candy canes to fit in. I do have a tip for people who are cutting this using Silhouette Studio and a Cameo! Make sure of your cut lines before hitting “Send”! On the shutter pieces, I had to select the shutter piece and the two squares that make up the tabs and weld them so they would only cut on three sides as intended! (The owner of the cut file has a video for Cricut users!)

FRAMED-20211117_165332 FRAMED-20211117_165358

I used the candy cane, Tres Jolie chipboard piece from the kit as my iris center, and kept it simple, just coating it in some embossing powders and setting it on some glitter coated cardstock! I sewed along the reindeer paper with some gold thread, and added the gold trim to cover the little bit of seam on the solid cardstock I pieced together to make my card base. To give a little “oomph” to the tab, I glued down one of the Graphic 45 chipboard pieces. This card is now ready for personalization!

This next card is made using a die I’ve had for a while, and in my video I said I got it from Amazon, but there is no packaging…so maybe I didn’t! I’ve had it a while, but this is the first time I’ve used it!

FRAMED-20211117_165309

I just thought it was so awesome being able to change the image on this card! And to really make is show, I made sure to have a lighter paper as my “revealed” image so it really popped out!

FRAMED-20211117_165255 FRAMED-20211117_165319

Just like with the Magic Iris card, I used a metallic gold thread to stitch the patterned paper to my card base. Then I had to add the bling because I forgot to take into account the movement under the surface! When I went to test the mechanism, it wouldn’t turn! I used a craft knife to slit enough of the stitches to allow clearance, then added the bling as a “cover.” I used a piece of the Graphic 45 chipboard in the center – trimmed down a little – added bling to the “lever” and finished off with adding two gems to the goggles on the chipboard Santa’s hat.

FRAMED-20211117_165410

Thank you for joining me here in my corner! I hope you enjoyed these two interactive cards and they gave you some ideas of what you can do using this month’s Cards, Tags, & More Kit.

Tres Jolie Kit Club-Autumn Cards-November 2021 Cards, Tags, & More Kit

Hey, all! Welcome back to my corner!

Today I’m bringing you a couple of quick and simple autumn cards using the Cards, Tags, & More Kit from Tres Jolie Kit Club. I used a couple of pre-made card bases and envelopes from Recollection’s (stash) and just added my own touch using the papers, ephemera, and chipboard from this month’s kit, as well as some other items from my stash.

FRAMED-20211024_121120

Need some quick cards? Check out my video to see how I put these together!

Video:

Simple, yes? Not all projects need hours of work to come out fabulous! And really, the Prima papers and Tres Jolie chipboard does most of the work here!

FRAMED-20211030_094414

My card bases are 6.5” x 5”, so I cut out 6.25” x 4.75” rectangles. Then I measured in 1/2” all the way around and, using my craft knife, I cut out my center rectangle! Two layers out of one rectangle!

I also just grabbed up a leaf stencil and some fluid chalk inks to add some decoration and color to the card bases and envelopes.

FRAMED-20211030_094108

FRAMED-20211030_094049

I have had that flocking in my stash for – a very long time! I would have to say over 10 years! I just never knew what to do with it. I finally decided it was time to pull it out and see if I could make it work! I used some fluid chalk ink and sticky embossing powder to start, but the flocking didn’t really stick down heavily—it came out more like fuzz—so I added some collage medium and added more flocking. I do like the “unevenness” of the flocking though! Some places are have a thinner layer which makes it look lighter, and some areas are nice and thick, which makes a darker area!

FRAMED-20211030_094302

Here is a close-up to really show the flocking. I added some clear beads as raindrops to this umbrella and just a few clear sequins on the pear card.

Tres Jolie Kit Club–“Envelope Card” & Box-October 2021 Cards, Tags, & More Kit

Hey, all! Welcome back to my corner!

This week for the Tres Jolie Kit Club I am bringing you an “Envelope Card” using a Lori Whitlock cut file and a box to package it in—a me cut file (image & a link to my personal Dropbox below)! Lori Whitlock’s original “Envelope Card” is made to fold over, but I wanted to add some of the 49 & Market flowers so I added in a bottom and created the box to hold it in.

FRAMED-20210919_173312

I used the embossing folder on the back, kit papers and flowers, and some of the buttons for accent flower centers. Check out my video to see how I put it all together!

Video:

A JPEG of my box creation and the links to my personal Dropbox: Silhouette Studio (studio3) File; SVG File; JPEG (All files for personal use only). I added a lid with and without a window cut out.

5and1halfx4and1half-ish-Box

I used the embossing folder from the kit on the back panel of the envelope–after I had glued in the liner piece and adding some embossing ink to the folder. When it came out of my Sizzix I added my embossing powder and heated it up!

FRAMED-20210919_174102 FRAMED-20210919_174123

I used gold embossing powder on a few of the Tres Jolie Chipboard buttons and added a few spots in the centers of the other flowers.

FRAMED-20210919_174143

FRAMED-20210919_174203

Instead of using the sentiment that came with the Lori Whitlock file I trimmed down one from the paper pack to fit and added it on.

Tres Jolie Kit Club–Slimline Cards-September Cards, Tags, & More Kit

Hey, all! Welcome back to my corner!

This week I’m bring you some slimline cards I made using the September Cards, Tags, & More Kit from Tres Jolie Kit Club, plus some items from my stash—most are from previous Tres Jolie Kits! (Tres Jolie Kits are a great way to add to your stash!) Check out my video to see how I did these slimlines!

FRAMED-20210819_113620

Video:

Slimline’s are (were? LOL) originally intended to be created to fit in a standard (No. 10) letter envelope. All of my slimlines this week would easily fit into that size, although in the U.S. if the weight is over 1oz, or if the item is particularly rigid, postage beyond a single stamp may be necessary. If in doubt, go to your local post office and ask! Check out my photos below of each individual card:

FRAMED-20210819_114445

“Congratulations”: Layered doily die cuts over the negative cuts in the background paper, on top of my mixed media layer with clear beads circling the solid center of the doily from the Buttons Galore cube in the kit.

FRAMED-20210819_114527

“Hello!”: Since I had done my mixed media layers all at once, this card was really very quick to finish up. I added my papers, then realized it needed some of the stencil butter on it, spread that on and set if off to the side to dry. Once dry I added my doily with the “Hello!” stamped directly on it and finished it off with three clear sequins.

FRAMED-20210819_114459

“Thinking of You”: This one is super simple assembly! I just added some of the patterned paper on top of my mixed media background and some thin strips that I had left over from my ATC project (Sept. 2nd video); I tucked in a few of the fussy cut flowers under the sentiment and added some sequins!

FRAMED-20210819_114542

“With Love”: Once again I needed to add some of the stencil butter so I just randomly stenciled it on in three random area. I fussy cut the banner & sentiment out after they were embossed, stuck it down, and added some light pink sequins to the areas of stencil butter.

FRAMED-20210819_114512

“You’re Amazing”: Again I needed to add some of the stencil butter since I hadn’t added any to the mixed media background I used, so I tried very carefully to keep it at the center of the doilies. Unfortunately I only thought of the stencil butter after I had attached to doilies to the card, so it was a little difficult! I stamped and fussy cut the sentiment, tucked in some of the fussy cut flowers, and made three groups of the sequins.

FRAMED-20210819_114357

Thank you for joining me here in my little corner! I hope you enjoyed these slimlines and they gave you some ideas of what can be done with the items found in this month’s Cards, Tags, & More Kit!

Tres Jolie Kit Club-Cards, Cards, Cards!-July 2021 Cards, Tags, & More Kit

Hey, all! I hope you had a craft-astic July and we were able to inspire you to go out and create!
For my third Cards, Tags, & More Kit project, I have a few cards, a few different ways!

FRAMED-20210619_095329

Check out my video to see my thoughts and process for all these cards!

Video:

Now for the close-ups and a few details for each card!

FRAMED-20210619_095551

FRAMED-20210619_095609

These two cards are some basic, “flat” cards. The “Happy Birthday” card is a 4-3/4”x4-3/4” square with just a piece of the striped cardstock, a doily die cut, and a piece of vellum with the greeting embossed. The “Let’s Celebrate!” is just stamped straight on the cardstock. I used a die from my stash with the Sizzix Emboss & Transfer set to add a little dimension to those birds being “pushed through” the gold cardstock.

FRAMED-20210619_095448

FRAMED-20210619_095730

The flowers from the kit get featured with these two cards! The “Hooray” cards is a little more fun with the flourish coming out from under the flower! The vertical card is more elegant, with some bits of lace dangling with the leaves.

FRAMED-20210619_095628

FRAMED-20210619_095650

Both of these cards of pieced together background, using strips of cardstock I had leftover from my previous projects! I cut some rosettes for the slimline card—giving it the “Party” feeling. The “imagine” card is another “flat” card, but those stars are just perfect to “make a wish” on.

FRAMED-20210619_095423

FRAMED-20210619_095528

These two cards sum up my feelings about cake! Lucky and Yay!! For the card on the left I used the negative cuts from the sheet of cardstock from my first project and added in some doliy cuts to create the background. I used my hexagon punches and any bit of “scrap” cardstock I could find to create the background for the card on the right. To cards with the same greetings, but totally different looks!

FRAMED-20210619_095817

I hope you enjoyed this project, and all of the projects this month, and they gave you some ideas of what you can do with the July Kits from Tres Jolie!

Creative Embellishments May 2020 Challenge-Steampunk Card

Hey, all! This is the last project I’m doing for May, but I’ll be back on June 1, 2020 with the Tres Jolie Kit Club Reveal!

Today I have a steampunk card I created for the May Challenge over on the Creative Embellishments Blog.

20200530_123729-wm

I don’t know what I’ll be doing with the card yet, but it’s good to have some one hand! Or so I’ve heard, I’m not a real big card maker, I find them difficult to do! But I’m happy with how this one has come out! All of the chipboard gears, the ATCoins, and the Circle Shaker Set are from Creative Embellishments, I just added the Patina and Rust Effect Pastes to go with my old, DCWV paper.
