Tres Jolie Kit Club – Autumn Cards – October 2022 Cards, Tags, & More Kit

Hey, y’all! Today I have a couple of quick autumn-themed cards for you using the October Cards, Tags, & More Kit from Tres Jolie Kit Club. I added some of the foil from this month’s Mixed Media kit to a piece of patterned paper, used the positive and negative cuts from a single die from my stash to create the backgrounds, cut some leaves, added a few details, and put them together.

Since these two cards are rather straightforward – and I used the same background die-cut – I’m just going to talk about them side-by-side here.

Both of the cards are 4”x5-1/2”, to fit the A2 die-cut background. The first thing I did was grab up the glue pen and the pieces of the foil transfer sheets (from this month’s Mixed Media Kit) that I had leftover from my Mixed Media Bat and cover a slightly-larger-than A2 piece of the patterned paper from this month’s kit. I used a piece of the patterned paper because I wasn’t sure how much I’d be able to cover with the foil and this way anything uncovered would still match the rest of the card fronts.

I hadn’t originally thought about using the negative cut from the die-cut, but after I saw just how much was left, I decided it would make a fabulous card front too! So I pieced everything back into the die and added a rectangle of adhesive sheet so I could place everything down easier.

For the “Hello” card, I used another piece from the patterned paper from the kit behind the foil-covered leaves die-cut, and on the “Thinking of You” card I used a metallic silver-tan-ish piece of cardstock from my scraps pile – both cut to 3-7/8”x5-3/8”.

I grabbed up my partial pieces of cut patterned paper and a sheet of some gel printed paper I had with a lovely golden paint on it (that I also added a few areas of foil transfer to) and headed over to mass produce as many leaf die-cuts as I could using Tim Holtz’s “Skeleton Leaves,” BoBunny’s “Lovely Leaf,” and a couple of unbranded leaf dies from my stash.

I cut out more leaves than I would need for these two cards, but now I have some already made! Anyhow, I used the gel print leaves for my “Thinking of You” card front, just layering them up in a semi-fanned-out cluster. I glued them down in place, then I added a few of the pumpkins from the fussy cut sheets found in the kit then popped up on some foam squares. Before I added the pumpkins I wanted to give them a little extra color so I added a bit of “Crooked Broomstick” Distress Crayon.

For the “Hello” card front I just used two of the largest cuts from the “Skeleton Leaves” set, layering them with a bit of an offset, and glued them in place. Then, mostly since I had recently been thinking about buttons, I grabbed up my We R Memory Keepers Button Press and the smallest button-making pieces and made the button for the front of the card using a piece from one of the cut-apart sheets.

The only thing left is the sentiments! Both sentiments came from the BoBunny “Sentiments With Love” stamp set and were stamped using a few layers of inks and embossing powder. “Thinking of You” is stamped on a piece of cardstock that matches the cardstock behind the leaf background using clear embossing powder, “Fossilized Amber” Ink and Oxide, and some “Flickering Candle” Distress Crayon. “Hello” is stamped on a piece of green cardstock using “Rustic Wilderness” Ink, Oxide, and Embossing Glaze.

After both card fronts were finished, I just added them to the card bases I had prepared. I used green cardstock for the “Hello” card, and some silver, glitter cardstock (both from my scraps pile!) for “Thinking of You.”

And with that, the cards were done! Once all of the pieces were die-cut that I wanted to use, putting the cards together took no time at all!

Tres Jolie Kit Club–Mixed Media Cards–September 2022 Cards, Tags, & More Kit

Hey, y’all! It’s officially been autumn for a week now, and I don’t know about you, but I’m still wearing shorts! It’s the give and take of living in a southern state. Mild winters, which makes the husband’s hot-mess joints happy; but less-than-desirable (for me) hot and humid summers. As for me, I’d be happy with two seasons – spring and autumn! The best temperatures and the best colors!

It is almost October, and besides the lower temperatures here in the northern hemisphere, the October Kits from Tres Jolie Kit Club will be getting revealed on Monday! YAY! New crafty supplies and lower temperatures? Yes, please! So, to bring September and the summer to an end, I have two more cards this month – with a little extra touch to them using mixed media mediums.

Neither of these cards is difficult – the majority of their assembly time is spent just waiting for the mediums to dry. Check out my video to see how these two cards came together.

Now, let’s get to some photos and highlights of what you saw in the video.

This first card is a step-card that I created. I used a dark pink cardstock for the base topped with some white, printer-weight cardstock. I did put a solid back on my step-card, which also required a couple of extra pieces tucked in to make sure my “Let’s Celebrate” square popped forward when the card was standing up.

Before I glued on the patterned paper, I added some light mixed media. I used the DecoArt Crackle glaze from this month’s Mixed Media Kit with the Prima stencil from the August (2022) Mixed Media kit, and before I removed the stencil, I added a little dusting of some Jaquard PearlEx powder, and a little spritz of Finnabair’s “Pixie Dust” Fixative . Then I just set those pieces off to dry while I worked on the center pieces.

I used the dies from the kit this month to add some decorative cuts at the tops of the patterned paper that would be going on the steps and backed them with a piece of paper that I coated in the beautiful ink from the kit. Now it was just a matter of gluing everything down!

I added the patterned paper that I had stenciled on and started building up my steps. I glued the top of the back step patterned paper to the back of the card, and the bottom of the back step patterned paper to the back of the lower step. Then, to help keep the “Let’s Celebrate” square stay forward, I added some extra pieces of white cardstock to help “push” it forward.

When everything was done, I added some of the Prima gold trim circles to the front and gave the card a final spritz of Finnabair’s “Pixie Dust” Fixative for a little extra shine.

This slimline card went together even faster than the step-card, because I didn’t have any cut files! I used another piece of dark pink cardstock as the card base, set it aside, and started working on my layers.

Since the slimline card is 4” x 10”, and the pink and white striped paper from the kit was an 8” x 8” square, I cut one piece 6” long and a second piece 2” – both are 3.75” wide – I knew the seam would never be seen by the time I was done! (I used some double-sided tape to hold the two pieces together at the seam while I kept working!)

I mixed some of the ink from this month’s kit with some of the glitter paste from this month’s Mixed Media kit together and lightly brushed it along the edges of the flowers, and then added what was left to the striped paper. After the glitter paste had dried, I grabbed up some white texture paste and a palette knife, scraped a thin layer of the paste onto the surface of the striped paper, and used a paint comb to add some stripes to the texture paste; then I glued the striped pieces down to the white cardstock.

Once the texture paste had dried, it was just a matter of gluing all of my flowers down, along with some leaf die cuts (using a die from my stash), a few bits of lace trim, and the sentiment square. I used my hot glue gun for all of this, so I was able to move right to adding the sequins to the front after adding the top “For Someone Special” sentiment at the top and a little square of the same teal paper at the bottom just to have that blue “continue” all the way down. All I did to add the sequins was use some more texture paste, watered down a little to make it more spreadable, dipped a brush into the paste, use it to pick up some sequins, and “brush” them on.

Tres Jolie Kit Club–Fold Out Cards–September 2022 Cards, Tags, & More Kit

Hey, y’all! This week I have a couple of quick and easy fold-out cards using this month’s Cards, Tags, & More Kit from Tres Jolie Kit Club for you!

Both of these cards go together quickly, so if you find you need a card on short notice, either of these will work as a quick way to add a personal touch.

Check out the video to see just how quickly these cards go together – I don’t really have to talk too much because there is more cutting and gluing involved in these two cards than anything else!

Easy-peasy, right? Check out the photos below to get a closer look at the details!

The overall size of this first card is 4”x6” (10.16cm x 15.24cm) – which is what the base rectangle is cut to. The accordion fold section is a 5”x12” (12.7cm x 30.48cm) strip of cardstock, scored at 3”, 6”, 9”, and 10.5” (7.62cm, 15.24cm, 22.86cm, and 26.67cm).

I tucked some sheer ribbon between the 4” x 6” base cardstock and the patterned paper I chose to use so I’d be able to tie the card closed when it was finished.

I cut all of my patterned paper 1/8” smaller than the cardstock which will leave a 1/16” cardstock border to show around the edges.

After my patterned papers were glued down, I added a few strips of the gold trim, using my Tim Holtz Media Tool (a T-square type of tool made to fit the Tim Holtz Glass Mat) to keep my lines of glue straight.

I cut out the flower heart from the papers, inked the edges, added some foam squares, and popped it onto a heart-shaped cardstock piece (also with inked edges), then just added one of the sentiments from the Paper Boutique papers in this month’s kit.

This second fold-out card went together just as easily as the first one. I created a cut file, made for 12” x 12” cardstock, glued the two pieces together, and picked out my papers.

I alternated between blue and pink papers for the panels and used the dies from the kit to create a little extra decoration on the two blue sections.

As with the first fold-out card, I cut my patterned papers down 1/8” to allow a 1/16” border of cardstock.

For a couple of the panels, I pieced together some of the patterned paper instead of cutting into a new piece of paper!

To finish up the front of the card, I added some of the gold trim, a blue rectangle die cut, and a sentiment.

Tres Jolie Kit Club – Pop-up Cards – September 2022 Cards, Tags, & More Kit

Hey, y’all! We’re two-thirds of the way through 2022, and hopefully us folks in the Northern Hemisphere will be seeing autumn soon – or maybe you are already shaking out your sweaters and enjoying the relief from our hot, dry summer. For those of you south of the equator, I hope you are having a lovely beginning to spring & that your summer is better than ours!

This month with the Cards, Tags, & More Kit I will be making cards. All month! I know, I’m just as shocked as you are! I normally can’t resist seeing what else can be done with the kit! This week’s cards are a couple of pop-up cards I created, next week will (should!) be my mood board project using the Scrapbooking Kit, then on the 22nd a couple of fold-out cards, and I’ll finish out the month with a couple of mixed media cards (using a couple of the mediums from the Mixed Media Kit) on the 29th.

Two cards, two different pop-ups inside! Both are a little smaller than an A4 paper (folded in half), to match the larger, A4-ish-sized patterned papers in this month’s kit. Make sure you check out the video to see how these two cards came together!

In the video, you saw that I cut all my parts out for both cards before sitting down to start the assembly process – here I’ll talk about each card individually.

This first card goes together quickly and easily! After I cut my pop-up base from a 12”x12” sheet of white cardstock, picked out the patterned papers I wanted to use and cut the inside pieces, there wasn’t a lot to do besides glue it together.

I used the two larger dies from the set in this month’s kit to cut out a couple of sections from the paper I used on the inside of the card. I lined up the dies along the left then the right edge so I could have the pink stripes on both sides of the die cut and just lined them up under the “Happy Birthday” circle – with its edges inked using the “Pearlescent Orchid” – to cover the seam.

I added some stitching around the perimeter of the “Happy Birthday” circle, the outside paper, and the two larger “flat” pieces on the inside.

For the inside, I inked the three pop-ups that were going to have the pieces from the sentiment square on them to give them a little extra definition then I glued all of my base pieces in place. I used the smaller decorative die to cut out the left edge of the sentiment square and to create a temporary stencil from a scrap of paper to use with the “Pearlescent Orchid” ink – allowing the ink to show up through the cut-out. I used the smaller frame die to give me the clean cut along the right side of the cut-out and to give me a clean cut for the flower edge that I cut off the square.

I decided I wanted to give the greetings a little sparkle, so I used a glitter pen to color in and trace the “Happy Birthday” on the front circle and “Have the Best Day” on the inside sentiment. Then I added some foam squares to the front circle and inside sentiment and floral edge and glued everything in place.

This second pop-up card was a little more work on the inside, but I made it so it could sit open if wanted. It was created so the pop-up section would be close to the front edge of the card when it opened and be surrounded by the folded flowers – which is why the pop-out section sticks out past the edge when closed.

This card wasn’t hard to put together, but I did have to be careful because the pop-up strips along the top were more “fragile” the skinnier they became!

The process for the assembly was the same as the first card – I cut out my card base, picked the patterned papers I wanted to use, and cut out the pieces for the inside. I added the “Pearlescent Orchid” to the top cover strips for the pop-out, distressed and inked the edge of the “Thinking of You” square on the front, and inked about half of the back so the part that extended past the edge of the card would have some color. I used the two largest dies on the “Your Are Bloomin’ Lovely” circle, flipped over the top and bottom parts that cut off, and inked them to give a bit of contrast. Before I glued everything together, I added a bit of stitching to the inside and outside patterned papers and the front square and grabbed a couple of Gelly Roll pens to accent the greetings and color in the die-cut holes on the inner sentiment.

Now that the easy part was over, the tricker part began! I cut out quite a few simple flower shapes to use as additional pop-ups, then carefully started their attachment process!

The first step to creating these pop-up flowers was to overlap the two edges of the “V” so they would form a cone shape, then after that glue was dry, I haphazardly folded them in half where the petal edges met. The darker lines in the image below are where I folded all of my flowers, the lighter dashed lines are optional areas to fold – depending on how “wrinkly” you want your flowers. There isn’t any wrong way to fold them!

After all of my flowers were folded, I started the process of adding them to the card – working carefully around the top strips of the pop-up!

I built my pop-up flowers on top of each other to create clusters that would unfold together. I started by gluing a petal edge to the “back” of the scenes (the underside of the top of the card when it is closed), then worked my way out attaching petal edges together along the way so when the card was opened they would all unfold together. (I hope I explained that well. I don’t always turn images and actions into words successfully!)

I used the large flowers along the sides, a couple at the top – which helped support the pop-up strips – and added the smaller flowers as a few centers and along the front of the sentiment pop-up.

Now, after the card has been opened, the pop-up flowers can be reshaped a little after being in an envelope and left out to look at!

Tres Jolie Kit Club–Mini Round Album & Card–August 2022 Cards, Tags, & More Kit

Hey, y’all! The project I have for you this week is a mini album I created using items from my stash and this month’s Cards, Tags, & More Kit from Tres Jolie Kit Club – along with a card to go along with the album using the card blank from the kit!

This album is sized just right to be able to use the Craft Consortium Belle Fleur papers in the kit without having to piece any together – in other words, the circles are slightly under six inches!

For my cover, I added a little batting to the underside of some stretch (faux) suede and then wrapped it around pieces of heavy chipboard for the back and front covers and carefully stitched about 1/4” from the edge (the spine is also heavy chipboard, but it doesn’t have batting or the fabric). I wanted to add a little something extra to break up the solid brown of the fabric, so I added some interfacing to the back of a piece of the Finnabair Decorative Paper that was in the July Mixed Media Kit, and some iron-on vinyl to the front to turn that paper into something that would be sturdy enough to be used on the front side of an album!

After all my fabric and paper were in place, I added some of the Belle Fleur rub-ons where the two materials met. I wasn’t sure how well they would stick to the fabric, but it was easy! I had to rub a little harder to get to the solid surface (the chipboard/my desk!) because of the batting, but it wasn’t a difficult process at all. To give the rub-ons a little extra protection I sprayed the cover with some ScotchGard and dabbed on some matte gel to help hold them down (do this very gently, because they liked to stick to my fingertip).

With the matte gel dry, I added my macramé cord along the edge of the decorative paper and the seam side of my cover circles – using the cord to finish the circle. Then I popped on the wicker hearts, some of the Prima flowers, the enamel dots, and my bit of ribbon. To harden the ribbon so it would hold the wave, I soaked it in some (water-thinned) Glossy Accents, placed it on the cover, and shaped it, then brushed on a layer of the Glossy Accents to really get it to hold its shape.

My spine is (about) 1-5/8” (41mm) wide and 4” (102mm) tall. The inside of the chipboard is covered with some of the same decorative paper used on the outside with some iron-on adhesive on the back to act as a “moisture barrier” so the glue doesn’t soak through and without vinyl. I did however use some of the vinyl-coated decorative paper to cover and reinforce the rectangle sections of the pages and to create the hinges. There is approximately 1/8” (32mm) space between the pages and from the edges of the spine to the first and last pages.

For the inside, the Craft Consortium patterned paper on the front and back covers and the pages are 5-7/8” (149mm) circles. I distressed the edges of the circles with my scissors, added some of the chalk ink from the kit, and added some vintage-style crochet lace to create pockets on the inside front and back covers then started adding my photo windows.

The acetate and rings are not flush with the surface of the page, I left a little space to allow some room for a photo to be added to the photo mat and still have space to slide in and out. The windows are layered as follows (top to bottom):

Craft foam ring
Cardstock ring

Just remember to only glue half of the ring onto the page – starting at the widest point – or your opening will be too small for the photo mat! The photo mat is a 5” (127mm) circle of cardstock, and I added a little piece of the Belle Fleur trim to use as a pull tab, with some stitching and glossy accents to reinforce it.

My card is really a lot simpler than it may first appear! I used the chalk ink from the kit along all of the edges of the card, then added my patterned papers to the back and flaps. It was at this point that I took everything over to my sewing machine and added a line of stitching – sewing the outside papers to the card base, adding stitches to the papers that would be going on the inside, and adding stitches to the two circle halves.

I grabbed up my “Royal Purple” StazOn and created a ring of stamping around the card front and attached the two circle halves with some double-sided foam to give it a little lift. The doily is cut using a Dress My Craft die from a previous kit and the heart is a Sizzix die that came with my Big Shot Plus. To get that doily and the flowers to really pop from the background, I added some “Villainous Potion” Distress Ink along the outside edges. The heart is coated in a mix of the Distress Ink and the “Pale Brown” chalk ink.

There is a stretch of trim across the front of the card, cut slightly over the halfway mark for the opening, and the flowers run along that trim. The closure for the card is a couple of tiny magnets placed behind the (right) edge of the heart and one of the petals of the flowers, so now it stays closed and looks like it is all one piece, but is very easy to open!

The final details of the card are rub-on flowers that I added a layer of Glossy Accents to, some of the enamel dots, and a rub-on sentiment on the heart – also with a layer of Glossy Accents.

The inside of my card has the patterned papers glued in and it’s ready for personalization – which I would probably do by printing the message on some coordinating vellum and gluing it in place.

To make my envelope match the card, I blended on some of the Villainous Potion and stamped on a couple of flowers using my Royal Purple StazOn topped with Pumice Stone Distress Oxide. I used the Pumice Stone because by this point I had used every last drop of the chalk ink between last week’s project and the album! Plus, the Pumice Stone is a perfect match for the colors on the card! Then, to finish it up, I blended some of the Pumice Stone onto the envelope.

Tres Jolie Kit Club–Let’s have a wedding!-August 2022 Cards, Tags, & More Kit

Hey, y’all! I’m not actually having a wedding, but someone, somewhere might be in the planning stages, and this month’s Cards, Tags, & More Kit from Tres Jolie Kit Club includes the beautiful “Belle Fleur” Collection from Craft Consortium – perfect for getting your planning into gear!

I made two, slightly different, Save the Date cards; one with rub-on’s and lace, and one with embossing and a paper strip. The invitation has a lot of stamping and embossing, and some faux purple glassine with the details printed on it.

And I may not be getting married, but I couldn’t resist creating these Save the Date cards and the invitation with the beautiful Craft Consortium Belle Fleur line in this month’s Cards, Tags, & More Kit!

For my “Save the Date” bases, I used some old DCWV glitter cardstock from my stash and cut it to 4-1/4” x 5-1/2” (108mm x 140mm), which is almost an A2 size (4-1/2” x 5-1/2”; 114mm x 140mm), so you could easily get some A2 envelopes to mail them!

I used some small staples close to the edges and some artists tape (washi tape would work too!) to attach my patterned paper to a sheet of plain printer paper – allowing me to print directly on the patterned paper and then I could cut my 6” x 6” patterned paper to the size I wanted and make sure the text was positioned how I wanted it.

I cut my two sheets of patterned paper to rectangles that are about 1/8” (33mm) smaller than the base, keeping my text at the bottom and spaced evenly from the left and right edges. The top and bottom of the card are made from the same rectangle; I just cut it about 2-7/8” (73mm) from the bottom and flipped the top piece over to use the print on the other side!

Before I glued my patterned paper to the glitter cardstock, I decorated the two top rectangles. I did two different Save the Date cards because I thought the ones with the embossing would work for the mass distribution, and the ones with the rub-ons could be kept in the wedding album and given as keepsakes to close friends and family.

For the embossing, I first stamped the rose with some “Royal Purple” StazOn, then topped it with the “Pale Brown” Chalk Ink from the kit and clear embossing powder, twice, like this:

This softened the StazOn some and gave a nice raised emboss. For the strip of paper across the seam, I just distressed the edges with my scissors a little and added some of the “Pale Brown” chalk ink. As soon as I glued everything down, it was done!

After I added the rub-on’s I had chosen for the second Save the Date cards, I added the chalk ink all around them. The chalk ink doesn’t stick to the rub-on’s, and I just added a little water to help clean them gently. Adding the chalk ink really allowed those rub-on’s to stand out by softening the patterned paper around them. Then I just cut my lace to size and glued everything in place.

My invitation is actually much simpler than it might initially appear. I taped some lavender tissue paper to a sheet of regular printer paper and ran it through my printer. When it came out, I grabbed up a can of semi-gloss spray and sprayed both sides of the tissue paper. This not only sealed up the text but created some beautiful faux glassine as well.

I used some sage-colored cardstock from my stash for my invitation base, cut to 5” x 7” (125mm x 175mm), and topped it with a frame I created from two of the pieces of patterned paper cut into trapezoids. To explain this better, I am just going to drop in some images from the video, because I don’t know how to coherently explain it in writing!

Hopefully, the shots from the video are helpful! You can see my trapezoids and the measurements for each of the sides. I used a piece of double-sided tape on the back at the seam to hold them together while I cut the center out.

The cut a 3-1/2” x 5-1/2” (89mm x 140mm) window from the center of my patterned paper trapezoids, then attached it to my cardstock base. If you just want the measurements to center the window – the edges of the window are 11/16th of an inch (175mm) in from the edge of the patterned papers (on all sides). If you want to make sure you are centered with what you’ve been cutting, just find the horizontal and vertical centers of your base and your window template, align them, and trace your template!

After the frame and base were together, I grabbed my stamp platform and started stamping flowers with the “Belle Fleur” stamp set. First I went around with the “Pale Brown” Chalk Ink from this month’s kit and added clear embossing powder. After I had flowers all around in the “Pale Brown,” I came back through and added flowers with my “Royal Purple” StazOn, followed by a duplicate stamping in “Pale Brown,” and then some embossing powder. Much like I did on the “Save the Date” card, except I only added one layer of the chalk ink and embossing powder on top of the StazOn.

After all of my stamping was done, I carefully tore the edges of my tissue paper – using my window template as a guide – added an even layer of glue, and set it in place. When the glue was dry, I added a single line of stitching along the edge.

Tres Jolie Kit Club–Cottage Life Cards–July 2022 Cards, Tags, & More Kit

Hey, y’all! We’ve made it to the end of July, and are that much closer to the end of this oppressive summer heat! (I hope!!)⁠

For my last project using the July 2022 Cards, Tags, & More Kit from Tres Jolie Kit Club, I used up the bits and pieces of the Graphic 45 “Cottage Life” papers I had, along with some cardstock, dies, and mediums from my stash, to create some cards & envelopes.⁠

All of the cards are rather straightforward. I used my last two uncut sheets of the “Cottage Life” paper to make two envelopes for 3-1/2”x6” cards – the largest size envelope that can be made using an 8”x8” sheet on the We R Memory Keepers Envelope Punch Board – and used two pre-made envelopes and card blanks for the other two cards.

This first card is made with some metallic cardstock from DCWV and decorated using the TCW stencil from June’s Mixed Media Kit, texture paste from my stash, and embossing powder. I sprinkled the embossing powder on the texture paste while it was still wet, and waited until it dried before heating it up. Although you can heat dry texture paste on its own, because you can keep the heat farther away and in constant motion, it doesn’t work as well when the paste is topped with embossing powder! The heat needed for embossing powder – or rather the heating method – can, and generally will cause the wet texture paste to form bubbles.

After my embossing powder was heated and cooled, I sprinkled on some of Lindy’s “Bavarian Blue” Magical Powder that is in this month’s Mixed Media Kit, gave it a spray of water, and let it spread out between the stenciling! I had the framed phrase that I made when I was working on the “Cottage Life” décor piece (the project posted on the 21st), so I added it to my card front and stamped a simple sentiment on a strip of cardstock to finish out my card front.

For the envelope, I used a Vicki Boutin stamp and die set from my stash to create the little windows. Before I folded the envelope up, I used the rose die to make the windows in the envelope and glued in some faux glassine that I had stamped and embossed with the coordinating rose stamp.

I didn’t do anything to the envelope for this card except fold it! Honestly, I just couldn’t think of anything I wanted to have premade, and decided to wait until the time came to use it!

For the card, all I did was cut a couple of the wider strips of the patterned paper to the length I needed and a strip of cardstock to the length and width I needed for the top section with the sentiment. Before I added the cardstock with the sentiment, I added some “Mowed Lawn” Distress Oxide Spray to the patterned paper. I didn’t intend to add so much, sometimes my hands have a mind of their own! Anyhow, I just wet it and mopped it up a bit. It was already there, so I just worked with what I had!

After I stamped my sentiment, I decided I wanted to have it stand out more, so I traced it all with a metallic pen, then I added my mini pearls, and this card was done.

The next two cards were made using some card and envelope blanks by Recollections from my stash.

For this card, I grabbed my 1.5” hexagon punch, a set of hexagon dies, and my bird silhouette dies. I didn’t want to cover the whole front of the card with hexagons, so I just randomly placed them in a way that I thought looked good and added my birds. To make the birds stand out, I hand drew a line for them to stand one, outlined them in coordinating metallic pens, and then used a dark grey pen for their shadows – just smearing out it with my finger. I stamped the sentiment on a little piece of my homemade glassine and added it to the card front. Super quick and easy card!

For the envelope, I place my hexagon dies inside the envelope so I could cut out some windows, added my birds, and then backed them with some of my homemade glassine.

For the fourth and final card, I just filled up the card front with blocks of the patterned paper and added a few flowers tucked under the chipboard piece. Very quick and easy card front – especially with the use of a pre-made card base!

The envelope wasn’t as quick and easy! When I first started playing with the faux glassine technique I learned from Nik the Booksmith, I had used this cute little stamp from my stash to stamp on a piece of tracing paper, then used some colored pencils to fill it in before spraying it with the glossy spray and turning it into a [faux] glassine print! Since I had already cut it in half (I had been thinking of doing something else with it originally) I decided that I needed to create a window pane for my envelope.

For the cute little scene “outside” the window, I wrapped some blue-ish faux glassine (created previously using the wax method) around the white side of a piece of the cover from the Graphic 45 stack and placed it behind my showering squirrels! I also have some foliage bits along the bottom that I was able to cut from some of the green print. Not a lot, because my die was bigger than the piece of paper I had to work with, but there is some there!

After I cut out four rectangles from my envelope to create the window opening and gluing in my squirrels, I added in strips of the patterned paper to help bring it to life … and also possibly because my craft knife got away from me and I accidentally cut across one of the cross pieces so I had to find a way to put my window back together! Well, that led me to then having to make sure my edges were all evenly sized so I added the blue strips of patterned paper and finally made four, 3/8” wide strips of the paper used around the outer edge.
