Tres Jolie Kit Club–Paper Bag Journal-May 2022 Cards, Tags, & More Kit

Hey, y’all!

This week’s project is a paper bag journal using this month’s Cards, Tags, & More Kit from Tres Jolie Kit Club, some kraft stock and transparencies from my stash, and of course, paper bags. I just searched through my stash until I came across some items that I’ve had for ages – and decided I needed to quit hoarding them! Plus, the kraft stock matches the paper bags!

pprBagNotebook-02

Check out the video to see how this little journal came together!

Video:

Pretty quick and simple, right? You don’t need “special” tape for this journal – clear packing tape works just fine and goes much better with the transparencies!

pprBagNotebook-01

For the cover, I grabbed up one of the Tres Jolie Chipboard butterflies, coated it with some white gesso, and added a couple of the Finnabair Mica’s from this month’s Mixed Media Kit using the Liquid Color Fluid Medium from March’s Mixed Media Kit to make those mica’s permanent. I used my JudiKins Diamond Glaze to get a nice seal with the cover. I didn’t mind the Diamond Glaze leaking out some, because I was already planning to add it to the top of the butterfly to give it a bit of a curved surface and now my butterfly almost looks like it has welded seams! After the cover was dry, I popped on a few of the Say-It-In-Crystal’s and called it done.

pprBagNotebook-04 pprBagNotebook-05

I’m not going to show every page in the journal, I’m just going to focus on the ones that have pockets – some are “plain,” but I’ll explain that reasoning closer to the end. I didn’t close up any of the bag openings, I decided to turn them all into side pockets – including the cover. I covered the bags with the patterned paper and used a hexagon punch to make some thumb holes.

I turned one of the kraft sheets into a pocket with a flap and added some of the patterned paper inside for a spot of color.

For all of my bends and hinges, I used regular packing tape because I wanted to add some reinforcement, but I didn’t want it to really stand out.

pprBagNotebook-06 pprBagNotebook-07

My journal is comprised of three paper bags, three kraft sheets, and three transparencies – layered like this:

  • Paper bag Cover with reinforced spine and eyelets added
  • Kraft stock – transparency – paper bag connected with eyelets
  • Kraft stock – transparency – paper bag connected with eyelets
  • Kraft stock & transparency connected with eyelets

I wanted to reinforce my holes, but I didn’t have long eyelets, so I just decided to make sections, then I used some macramé cord to tie it all together.

I really like using the printed transparencies because they make clear pockets, but are not totally see-through because of the print – plus I would sometimes add some strips of patterned paper to one side to create some visual interest. As you can see in the above image, some of the pages made from a transparency have side openings.

pprBagNotebook-12

A couple more side open pockets, and one of the paper bag bottoms – which I talk about a few paragraphs down.

pprBagNotebook-09 pprBagNotebook-10

Some pocket pages were made from one of the transparencies and from one of the kraft sheets (I just used a scrap of patterned paper here to show the pockets).

pprBagNotebook-11

The center of my journal is one of the transparencies turned into side pockets. When I put my eyelets in, I thought about how they would be facing so the finished side would be showing in the center.

pprBagNotebook-03 pprBagNotebook-13

For the pages made from the bottoms of the paper bags, I covered the bag with bits of leftover patterned paper and made two shallow pockets. Where the bottom folded up flat I added some glue along the edges to make one pocket, then added a strip of patterned paper about halfway up to create a second pocket.

pprBagNotebook-08 pprBagNotebook-14

As you can see, this journal is filled with pockets that you can tuck all your photos and notes into! And the reason for the “plain” pages? So you can grab up some colored pencils, markers, crayons, pens, etc., and add your own touch – maybe based on whatever mood you’re feeling at that given moment.

Thank you for joining me here in my corner, I hope you enjoyed this paper bag journal and it gave you some ideas of what you can do with some “plain” cardstock you have in your stash and this month’s Cards, Tags, and More Kit.

Tres Jolie Kit Club–Keychain Album–February 2022 Cards, Tags, & More Kit

Hey, y’all! Welcome back to the Corner Scraps Blog! For my final February project I have a little keychain album I made for the Tres Jolie Kit Club using (almost) the last of my February Cards, Tags, & More Kit, a cut file I made for the page shapes, and some items from my stash to document (part of) a trip I took in 1997. Check out my video to see how I put this little album all together.

Video:

Easy peasy, right? A little cutting, sewing, and gluing, and I have a little album will some photos from a trip I took! I left the backs of my pages blank, because I’ll have to use the power of the Internet to look up Hearst Castle and record what it was I saw back in 1997, but other than that, it was a simple project I put together in no time!

Feb2022-CTM-KeychainAlbum-13

Feb2022-CTM-KeychainAlbum-12

Feb2022-CTM-KeychainAlbum-11

I grabbed up some alphas from my stash to create my title page, and just hand wrote the year in. Since I had some of my mini envies left from my Cards project, I decided to add a few throughout the album. I stitched my pages together, without worrying about “neatness”, because sometimes that rough look works just fine!

Some of my pages have two photos attached with my Tim Holtz Tiny Attacher – usually if the photos were the same item but at a different angle. I used some embossing powder from my stash, and cut up one of the Tres Jolie Chipboard pieces to scatter throughout the album.

I used every flower from the 49 & Market pack that came in the kit! Those mini flowers were perfect for an album of this size! I even grabbed up the stamp set and added some random lines of music.

Tres Jolie Kit Club–Coptic Bound Journal-January 2022 Cards, Tags, & More Kit

Hey, all! Welcome to 2022 and my corner!

For my first project of the year for Tres Jolie Kit Club, I have a Coptic Bound Journal for you. I used “resume” paper, some size 5 DMC Perle Cotton Cotton,  and tools & adhesive from my stash — along with the papers and chipboard from the kit — to create this journal.

FRAMED-CopticJournal-Jan22CT&M-01

Check out my video to see how I put mine together!

Video:

Photos, links, & measurements:

FRAMED-CopticJournal-Jan22CT&M-03 FRAMED-CopticJournal-Jan22CT&M-10

On the inside of the front and back covers I added some of the scraps from the lined paper I printed and some stickers from the Simple Stories sheet found in the kit. On the front of the first signature I added the “Learn To Fly” square from the Craft O’Clock “bonus” sheet and drew on some faux stitching.

FRAMED-CopticJournal-Jan22CT&M-12

The Simple Stories paper I added on the outside of the back cover.

Here are the measurements for where I poked my holes – where the lines intersect. The measurements are in inches, and the space between the horizontal lines.

PhotoRoom-20211231_120442

**The vertical line is 3/8” in from the left edge.**

For my journal, I made six signatures. The cover of each signature is a piece of the Simple Stories paper, scored 2-1/4”, then filled with some of my printed lined paper! I printed the lines on bother sides of the paper, but I didn’t use the same print for each side! I was lucky enough to find a monochrome laser printer for $35 in the clearance isle one day, so that is what I used. InkJet printers will work just as well—just remember the ink isn’t permanent! (Unless you have a fancy pigment ink printer!) After my journal was all together, I went through and randomly added some stickers from the Simple Stories Cardstock Sticker sheet.

Be careful when you are doing your binding! I was so worried about it being too loose, I made it too tight! But my journal still opens and lays flat like it should!

Tres Jolie Kit Club–Anything Book–October 2021 Cards, Tags, & More Kit

Hey, all! Welcome back to my corner!

For my final Tres Jolie Kit Club project of October, I’m bringing you an “Anything Book.” I call it an anything book because you could easily use it as a mini-album, mini art journal, mini notebook, etc. Personally, I really wanted a mini art journal with pockets and flip-outs.

FRAMED-20210919_173350

My inspiration for this project came from Pinkstrawberryz “No Binding Easy Mini Album.” It was just one of those “You might like” recommendations that randomly popped up on YouTube, so I decided to have a look! As soon as I watched the video I had ideas brewing! Check out my video to see how I put my Anything Book together. (Below the video you will find photos of the inside and the measurements for my pages.)

Video:

Here is a look at some of the pages I started preparing:

FRAMED-20211003_110402 FRAMED-20211003_110424

After my book was together I used clear and white gessoes to prepare the pages. With my gesso dry, I was then able to start laying down mediums to prepare working backgrounds. I just grabbed up various paints and started laying them down! To make the book cover, I grabbed up some burlap trim, cut it to length, and stitched it in place during assembly.

FRAMED-20211003_110443 FRAMED-20211003_110455

Some areas have acrylic paint and some have watercolors. I started drawing on a couple of the pages—flowers in some places, and this face above. I also grabbed a few pens and outlined the flowers from the paper pack.

FRAMED-20211003_110513 FRAMED-20211003_110527

I didn’t always use a brush with my paints, some times I just used a palette knife to scrape it on! I also grabbed up some of my Dina Wakely Scribble Sticks and added some…well…scribbles! I have a short flip-though of my mini art journal (as far as it had been “finished” at the time of filming!) over on my Instagram post for this project.

Tres Jolie Kit Club–Mini Flip Album-October Cards, Tags, & More Kit

Hey, all! Welcome back to my corner! For my first Tres Jolie Kit Club project of October I’m bringing you a Mini Flip Album I made using mostly only the kit. I have a few staple (white cardstock, glue, ribbon) and reusable (tools) items, but, for the most part, I did stick to the kit.

FRAMED-20210919_173210

With just four (I think only four!) sheets of white cardstock & a bit of ribbon from my stash, plus the Cards, Tags, & More Kit, I created this Mini Flip Album! Check out my video to see how I did it. Plus, under the video you’ll find the measurements for the cardstock and some close-up photos!

Video:

Measurements:

20210911_105441

As you can see, I have x2 on each set, because I made two of each size. The dashed lines are for scoring, and I have the measurement for how far from the left edge I went in for the score line.

Now, for the close-ups:

FRAMED-20210919_173740 FRAMED-20210919_173758

On the inside cover I have a flip-out with a narrow pocket and a pocket with a thumb-slot on the facing page (pages 1-2). The next two pages have a “belly band” (which slipped when I was sewing it, so it’s crooked!) and a pocket (pages 3-4).

FRAMED-20210919_173811 FRAMED-20210919_173826

The next set of pages has a pocket and a “belly-band” (pages 5-6) followed by a page with a “belly-band” under a flip out and a large flip up page (pages 7-8).

FRAMED-20210919_173841 FRAMED-20210919_173859

This next page I left blank for notes, photos, or memorabilia, and a pocket on the next page (pages 9-10). On the final two pages I have “belly-bands” on each of them (pages 11-12).

FRAMED-20210919_173920 FRAMED-20210919_173720

Here are photos of the back and front cover. I left the chipboard natural because I really liked how it went with the muted tones of the papers. Finally, I have a shot of the album opened up, where you can see a couple of those flip-out pages.

Tres Jolie Kit Club–Shaker “Envelope Gift Mini Album”-September Cards, Tags, & More Kit

Hey, all! Welcome back to my corner!

For my final Cards, Tags, & More Kit project for the Tres Jolie Kit Club this month, I’m bringing you an “Envelope Gift Mini Album” using a Paige Taylor Evans cut file. (Links to PTE’s tutorial & the Silhouette Store ID# in the product list.)

I used the cut file as my base, and decided it needed to become a *shaker* envelope mini album! In my video, you’ll get to see how I worked through that process (which means you’ll get to see how to do it the hard way, LOL!).

FRAMED-20210819_113757

Check out my video! Hopefully it makes sense – I was working out the process as I went along!

Video:

Close-ups with some explanations:

FRAMED-20210819_115254

FRAMED-20210819_115322

For the album (and the inside envelope) I used some Paige Taylor Evans papers from my stash, but used papers from the kit as my ‘accent’ pieces and to make the bow. To make this into a shaker, I grabbed up a 12×12 page protector, inserted the album cut, and started stitching to make the pockets. After all the stitching was completed I trimmed off the excess page protector.

FRAMED-20210819_115422 FRAMED-20210819_115356

Here you can see the inside envelope, I added little magnets just to help keep the flap down. It wasn’t really necessary, I just found it helped keep the flap down for when I folded the album up. You can see I used the Altair Art papers from the kit to make my inside panels, with some doily’s added in that were made using the Dress My Craft Die from the kit.

FRAMED-20210819_115530

When I first decided to add in some stamping from the Bo Bunny stamp set I thought I would have a lot more, but as soon as I added these little edges I thought it was enough! Sometimes less is more!

FRAMED-20210819_115445 FRAMED-20210819_115343

I just had to add in these beautiful Tres Jolie Chipboard leaves from the kit! I found the angle of the leaves made a perfect match up for the flap of the envelope. The addition of the leaves, however, are also the reason I added a button a twine closure, like the one on the right flap, under the outside bow and band closure!

Tres Jolie Kit Club-June 2021 Cards, Tags, & More Kit-G45 ATC Tag Album

Hey, all! Welcome back to my little corner! Today I’m bringing you my first project for the Tres Jolie Kit Club using the June Cards, Tags, & More Kit!

This project is a “kit only” project, using the Graphic 45 ATC Tag Album, Stamperia Papers, and one of the resin clocks from this month’s kit.

20210504_095922-FRAMED

Video:

This project is rather easy-peasy! For all the pages and the cover, I just cut the paper to size and glued it down. I created a custom-fit piece for the spine, using my Silhouette Cameo to cut the bracket shape in the piece of paper I was using.

Here are the measurements I used and the JPEG or, if you choose, the SVG for the tag and spine.

JPEG of the spine & tag cuts.

A few close-ups:

20210504_095912-FRAMED

I really wanted to keep the cover simple so the album could be carried around easy while traveling, so I made sure my cut-out pieces were glued down good and I used some Liquitex Super Heavy Gel to make sure that resin clock was attached nicely!

20210504_100043-FRAMED

I cut the lined sheet of paper from the Stamperia pack in half and turned it into a couple of fold-out pages for taking notes.

20210504_100027-FRAMED

For some of my pages I did some paper piecing to create the background!

20210504_100013-FRAMED

I had originally thought I might cover the tags with the Stamperia paper as well, but then I decided to leave them blank for notes and/or photos.

20210504_100109-FRAMED

I picked one of the phrases from the cut apart sheet to put in the bracket. You could also make a custom label describing what the theme of your album is!

20210504_095944-FRAMED

This Graphic 45 ATC-Tag Album is so adorable and just the right size to make a little memory book; paired with the Sir Vagabond Papers from Stamperia, and you have a handy place to record a little vacay!

Thank you for joining us here at Tres Jolie, I hope you enjoyed this project and it gave you some inspiration to create your own little album!

Tres Jolie Kit Club-August Cards, Tags, & More Kit

Hey, all! Welcome back to my little corner!

Today I’m bringing you an album I made using the August 2020 Cards, Tags, & More kit from the Tres Jolie Kit Club! This kit was aimed towards an album, providing the chipboard and album base pages needed to get you going with the paper & embellishments! And well the kit may have included a set of split rings and the pages were pre-marked for holes, I went a different route and used part of the chipboard to create a hard spine.

DSC_0038-FRAMED

Due to technical difficulties with sections of the process video, I decided to just create a walkthrough/flip-through of the final album. Check it out!

Video:

I used some White Artisan Cardstock from Country Craft Creations to build my cover and on my photo sleeves because it is a linen cardstock, making it nice and sturdy for creating hinges. To insert the pages, I used some Linen Hinging Tape from LineCo. It’s nice and thin, but because it is linen it will be able to take being used as a hinge! After I had my base put together I started adding in the patterened paper from the kit, then worked my way up to adding in the photo sleeves and card flip-outs. Finally, I added the embellishments I wanted on the inside pages before turning my attention to the cover.

For the cover I used the pearl strips from the kit, spacing them two inches to the center. Finally I created my flower cluster on the front cover and added on of the resin pieces where the seam binding was attached.

Now, how about some photos? I have the front and back covers first, followed by the pages in the order they are in the album.

Some of my flaps close with magnets (from my stash) and some have tie closures using the seam binding found in this months kit!

Here are the measurements for the photo inserts. For reference, “Solid Cardstock” with the circles is the light purple cardstock in my album that I used from my stash, “Patterened Paper” with the circles is the paper from the kit, and the solid rectangles is the white linen cardstock from my stash that have an extra one-half inch for the flips.

I hope you enjoyed this project and that it gave you some ideas of what can be done using the items in this month’s Cards, Tags, & More Kit!

Good morning! I hope y’all are ready for an exciting YouTube Hop where you will be viewing projects created by Design Team Members from Tres Jolie Kit Club and Blue Fern Studios! All of the projects you will be seeing are showcasing the new “Christmas Cheer” line by Blue Fern Studios; the line you can find in the December Scrapbooking Kit by Tres Jolie Kit Club!

**Important** Be sure you give each video a thumbs up, leave a comment, and follow each channel for a chance to win a prize! Thank you!!**

**The Hop will run from December 6, 2019 – December 20, 2019**

To get you started, here is the project I created for the hop!

Using the “Christmas Cheer” papers, I altered a wooden box and created an accordion fold album to fit inside.

After removing the hinges and latch off the box, I used some of my “Christmas Cheer” papers to wrap the box! I then used some “Bronze Age” Prima wax from my stash, added the poinsettia clusters, from Blue Fern Studios, the ornament chipboard from the “Christmas Cheer” line, the charms, and the Prima bird, all found in the Tres Jolie Kit!

The hinges are the original hinges, but I changed the latch to a slightly more ornate on I had in my stash and added some feet, also from my stash, to the box. On the edges I rubbed on a mix of Prima waxes and Nuvo Embellishment Mousse.

As you can see, I used more of my Prima wax on the chipboard ornaments and on the charms before tucking them into the clusters! I also put a light dusting of the Lindy’s Gang, “Silver Moon Mistletoe,” (from the kit) on the poinsettias!

To “dye” the interior of the box I used my Distress Oxide Spray “Blueprint Sketch” & Distress Spray Stain “Weathered Wood;” which I then followed up with a coat of Mod Podge Clear Acrylic Sealer so the epoxy wouldn’t leech the color out. I sprinkled some Prima mica flakes in the lid and base, poured in my epoxy, then sprinkled some more mica flakes on top. The epoxy takes 24-hours to cure, so I set my pieces on a high, level shelf and left it alone! (Well, I might have dragged something to stand on so I could peek, but I didn’t touch it!)

I created my own knobs using a Prima mould, Amazing Cast Resin, and some Chicago screws (post & screw connectors). To give the knobs their color, I stirred in some “Heirloom Gold” Perfect Pearls into the resin before pouring it in to the mould, and after it was set I added some metallique wax.

I used some sari silk to create the tie closure for the album and to tie the tag “bundles” together for each pocket.

The album is now ready to have some memories added! There is ample space for photos and notes, and the box can be used as part of your décor as well as keeping the album protected!
